The pavers don't look that old, it would be a shame to tear them up. Keep in mind you really need 250mm -300mm ground clearance for a deck

Its best to wash merbau with an oxalic acid timber cleaner to assist in tannin reomval. You can get decking finishs tinted 'merbau'to help restore some colour.
