No - but I had a gable roof brick garage. Storage above the ceiling line was great - I had no ceiling - just the rafters.

Look up the manufacturers specs, they will rate their fixings for this. Dyna bolts would probably be best, you will get more holding power per fixing

Yes that's right. The Australian Concrete association (http://www.concrete.net.au/) say a joint spacing of around 2m is OK for footpath. Personally I would prefer a bit less.
