Hi Michelle. We were originally going with tile flooring in the main living areas in our new build. When we went to a flooring company they showed us this product. Looks great in the showroom, waterproof, scratch proof. Sounds great. The only concern we have is how does it feel to walk on? We reall...

Now you've added the kitchen plans to the original post, you should be able to take them to task for not having it installed as per plans.

I think you're going to struggle with this one. Unless you specified what you wanted exactly and it's written somewhere that's signed by both, then they probably wont fix it. I don't see either as being "defects" just not ideal..

Generally it is calculated as a deposit, and taken off the contracted price. This of course depends on your contract. Check the contract.

Just an update that I have spoken with someone who happens to be building with the same builder as ours and they were able to use the included tile promotion to their bathroom and ensuite walls. The promotion says tile flooring but I didn't know that it is allowed as well for the walls. We will hav...
That seems extremely expensive to go from 400x400 to 600x300? That's almost my allowance for my tiling from scratch (No...

Hi Dakoda, Start with the land as the price is more fixed then the build. Find the average price of a block of land in an estate you maybe interested in, or at least know what the land will cost you if you're not looking in new estates. Set a budget and then take the price of land off that budget, a...

That's the problem with the "promotions". Unfortunately there's a lot of these advertised and you aren't actually saving any money, as they add it in elsewhere, or have a limited choice of stock as they have bought clearance or cheap items in bulk to cover the numerous builds using the pro...

What was the variation cost they offered you back if you did tiling after handover? Assuming that tiling was already in your contract price. Will that cover cost of tiles and laying?

enjoy the ride. Just have a budget and hold it. The most important thing someone told me was that at the building stage just upgrade the things that are harder to upgrade later. Like ceiling height, wall positions, room size and block orientation. You can always change a tap or a shower head down th...

I think everyone gets in the same boat when they first decide to build. I know I was. I have signed my contract but I had to compromise for budget reasons. It ended up about $1500 per sqm, that included air con, all flooring, all lighting and fairly good fittings and inclusions. I ended up with a sl...
