I'm so glad I read this thread. I was considering bamboo, but now think I will go for tiles. I didn't realise you can't steam mop bamboo. I don't know about Brisbane, but I found a fabulous company in Melbourne. It does custom outdoor garden screens, but the looks and site info on materials generally suggest they can be adapted for indoors. Take a look on Google (including an image search). You could find something similar in Bris.
