We were going to go down the cctv path also - however after meeting with a few places it just didn't seem viable, the cameras don't really...

Diamond gloss bench tops are a nightmare... In my opinion... hard to keep clean, scratches easily and hard to keep clean... did I mention they were hard to keep clean??? We did them on our kitchen reno before we sold our old place... glad we sold and moved out - absolutely hated the bench top!

I love mine - I got them colour matched to my timber laminate flooring. So they are dark almost black stained poplar. Was able to get them on a take home layby interest free which made coughing up the money for them a lot easier when it was spaced over 18 months :)

What about a "study nook" - so where you wanted to put your buffet put a small desk and chair. Handy spot for it as it's near the kitchen for when/if you need to use a computer and you're cooking dinner or something - or keep an eye on children if they are on the internet (not sure if you ...

Yup i would just double glaze the front, upgrade the insulation. Also is there an option for you to use like a hebel type product and render - hebel has much better thermal properties than brick... even if you don't want the whole house to be rendered and just the front???
