So I'm the odd one out! How did everyone get their builders to let the tradies on site to lay the boards first? Or did you get it done through the builders? We got ours done thru the builder

we have our bathroom tiles a little lower than the floorboards. there is no metal strip but the timber is not exposed; I think that would be dreadfully poor workmanship if that ever happened. Our timber is graduated down with the same type of timber used on the rest of the floorbpard and coated with...

first time the builder is painting them any way. yes but they have to be painted regularly as partof their maintenance otherwise they look terrible. Colorbond may fade a little but you'll never have to paint it!

I doubt the cladding is going over the bricks if they chose cladding to reduce the volume of bricks. True. I think I was thinking that the OP wanted to reduce the volume of bricks for the visual effect. I guess I don't know of any other reason why someone wold want to reduce their volume of bricks?...

have you a picture of the granite Henroes? :) I have Antique White USA on my walls and Polar White (a laminex colour) vinyl wrap cabinetry, and it looks great together, the whites don't clash or anything. would be good to see a pic of the granite though.

I'm trying to work out how poor concreting and paving around your house caused cracks to appear in your walls and ceilings? On one year inspection of our house we notice cracks in walls n in ceiling ,so our builder fixed it, couple of months later the cracks reappear again , the builder inspected it...

Personally I wouldn't get a slab laid to pave over it. Its wasting the concrete really IMO. Just use road base then sand, pave then use sand in the gaps with a little cement mixed in. Water it in and it'll set like a rock and no weeds will come up either. $90m2 is the average price for concrete lai...
this is exactly what we did and had weeds growing through the gaps within 8 months. I'd get a slab next time.

also take into consideration what sort of rooms they are. if they are bedrooms, upstairs I would no question go a good strong not too expensive carpet. will be much more marketable, I would reckon ppl on the whole prefer carpets in bedrooms. as Michelle said timber can be very noisy upstairs.
