Don't forget that gardening is an ongoing project with a living organism - if it's not all level and smoothed out now you can fix that with time and top dressing so don't panic

Aphids are terrible this year in Melbourne :([/quote] You could always pop over to my house and collect some of the many ladybirds I've seen on a few of my plants, they feast on aphids when they are mating. I've got a heap of lady birds now - it was a bit late though for when I really needed them b...

A few weeks ago I dug up a new patch of dirt and planted some vegie seedling, unfortunately these seedlings got attacked by something (I think snails and slugs) and they literally disappeared - it seemed that each morning something would be gone. This is how the bed ended up - with only 6 corn plant...

Get organic soil or compost or a mix but make sure it's organic if you can. Don't get mushroom compost - it burns the plants if it's too strong - my neighbours can only now grow things 2 years later after making that mistake. Can you dig into the shale at all? If so then get the soil delivered and g...

::angry:: you would think they would tell you when you purchase the land!! not when you go for your building permits. I wouldn't be so peed off about it. I was advised of this when I bought my block, but that was a while ago now and staff may have changed but it was also picked up by my conveyancer...

Our chooks stay out in the rain too-and they love snails! ::lol:: I think they like to get the bugs etc that come out in the rain. Mine don't seem to eat the snails - very disappointed by that, maybe with time?
