found this cool site (think it is sa only) which shows areas tested. there is a yellow spot across the road from where we are, so fx that is the soil we have - but knowing our luck, will be a red spot http://i.imgur.com/IbqVOuo.png?2

Soil testing is booked in for this week - and from there, think it will be another 3-4 weeks to get the engineering report. So then we can start looking at actual quote costs and start selections. Scared about the footings cost due to Adelaide soil - the original quote is 35 000 above standard, so h...

I'm vary of contributions - as I feel that you will pay for it somewhere else, but there is a company at Blakes Crossing where they are advertising that they pay your rent whilst you build. Again - probably that is factored into other costs, but might make it easier during your build time.

Yeah - footings are very expensive - we have been quoted between 45 - 70 000 for ours. We have chosen the company that came with the most expensive and hoping that we get a nice surprise when engineering report comes back. (our slab will be about 316 in size)

We are close to signing (having soil testing next week) with a custom build with Adelaide Designer Homes. We have been really happy with the process and Jahl - I think we are about concept 10 at the moment, and have only just paid 850 which is for soil testing. We did look at Deschellis too and love...

Hi, We are just about to sign (and start the process for the soil testing, engineering report etc) and would love some feedback before we sign our next 30 years away!! This will be our first build - we are currently living in an ex-housing trust home which was built in the 50's (and is a tiny 3 bed/...

We are 6 months away from demolition, so a bit of time on our side. Good idea to get them to dig it out when they knock the house down. Do we need to do anything to get the tree ready such as pruning the tree, or a time of year that would be better to move it?
