Love this sensible advice!!! Moving in before Xmas with just a few days to spare seems so rushed esp when things are unfinished. Sooooo much more sensible to take your time and get things right :-) If you ever have any doubts just think of us (DH, me and the twins) squished into our tiny, hot little...

He's mentioned the guttering and fascia will get installed before the roof itself and this seems counter-intuitive to m...

It then took them approx 1 month before anything even happened and apparently that's quite common (with @ll...

A parents' retreat should be compulsory in all family homes. I lock myself in now and then with my laptop, some DVDs, a book or some magazines and only come out in search of more coffee. Or wine. Sometimes I even let my husband in. The reference to husbands actually *did* make me laugh...

Thx Loretta :-) Yes, the main bedroom is quite big -- about one-third of the first floor!! It's part dressing room, part retreat, and we have a roomy ensuite. I love my kids but I really need a chillout space and that's what we are trying to create. And I agree with you re the schedule. Isn't it fun...

I got hold of one pic of the 1st floor from DH. This is largely because we have very different photography styles...he takes close ups of where the plumbing is etc etc...and I tend to take wide shots :-) Anyway -- this is taken adjacent to the stairs, looking toward the back of the house. The 2 wind...

Thanks Loretta :D We had another delivery of bricks today and I can't really tell what the brickies did because there are no obvious signs of completed brickwork. Although they do appear to have run short on commons as I saw a bit of the facade to be rendered built with our expensive face brick. Not...

Sometimes talking to such wallies is very difficult because they just bang on and on with their complaint and...
