Thanks ozzyjack....I think the acrylic paints rust the paint tins at a greater rate than oil because they have a higher water content. Bare metal should be primed with an oil based primer...I think water based paints are easier to use but don't quite give the gloss look as well

Does anyone know if oil based gloss paints can be prevented from going a horrible dark yellow over time (18 months)? Is it better just to use acrylic gloss paints even though they're not as glossy?

the copper napthenate solution is in a light organic solvent...I saw something online called "spa-n-deck" for outdoor areas around pools etc. it's acrylic based. might be longer lasting than the cabots?

Thanks Bashworth....I know the window isn't in contact with soil, however, it is subject to moisture and due to its location (semi-detached house therefore limited access on neighbours side) it's not easily observable or accessible without neighbour's permission. I have put some copper based timber ...

I wonder if anyone could advise me about the best way to treat a timber window frame made from untreated pine. When the builder made the 600x600 frame to support glass bricks...he used 140 x 45 mm pine but it wasn't cca treated (don't know why as it exposed to the elements).is there any special trea...

Looks like that could be broken up with a sledge hammer/crow bar and then scraped up with a spade. You could bag the waste in hessian bags then take it to the tip (keep the receipts and send the company the bill for these). For the water meter and tap...you could try a metal scraper and wire brush.

Hi Anthony, I ended up getting a plain off white ceramic tile 'laguna' 300x300 and 6mm thick. The buiilder layed the sand cement bed but because the height of timber is differs in the bedroom and the kitchen there is now an 8-10mm gap at the kitchen/laundry doorway and a 19mm difference between the ...

Yeah, thanks...I know it was a mistake for the hourly rate...he seemed honest at first but then he got crafty...It was a fair amount of hammering- 2 new stud walls and all the ceiling joists were replaced. Thanks Zedman, I was thinking 300 x 300mm, not too big or too small. I was thinking just lay them straight not diamond.

Thanks xquisite for your reply...I know it's only a laundry but I have to pass through it to get to my bedroom (which is adjacent) and also to enter the backyard. That's why I wanted something nice to match the blackbutt floor. Also, I thought larger tiles might make a small space (1.4 metres wide b...

I'm renovating my laundry and covering the bare cement floor with some tiles. Has anyone used travertine or natural stone tiles..if so what do they look like? Are larger tiles more popular? I have blackbutt timber flooring adjacent to the laundry.
