Ours is 3332 x 1080 with 600mm of cupboards under it and about 480mm of overhang. I can't speak for how it is all supported, other than to say the overhang is unobstructed. The extra overhang is very handy for stools and provides much needed extra working space compared to the 850mm standard bench. HD

Yep, this is pretty much expected. You could always let them know you'll walk away if they can't accommodate the change in schedule, but be ready for them to call your bluff. Tender is not their strong suit. HD

Letting them in is easy. Supervising them to make sure they a) do what they're supposed to and b) don't damage anything is harder. I had tradies regularly turn up and do only a subset of what they were supposed to do despite clear work instructions. Without a fully engaged SS it fell to me to micro ...

Getting things fixed after handover can be very time consuming. I lost the exact count, but I think I used roughly 11 days of my sick / annual leave facilitating access for the builders to deal with minor fixes. In retrospect it wasn't worth it, I should have held off on handover. Mind you, I had a ...

Check your contract drawings and look for "FC Sheet Infill Over" above your windows - if that's there, I believe that means you're getting wood infills. Aluminium isn't standard, so unless you requested it explicitly this would be normal. Less than ideal, I know, but window frames almost n...

OK people, here are some stacker door photos. Looking closely at it, I can't see any reason to think the screen door rails were a bolt-on, but it's not impossible if they were a very well made modular frame I suppose. For reference, the stackers are 2100 high, 3000 wide, and are the double-glazed un...

BTW, a minor mistake in one part of your plans could be an indication of more significant problems later on. The garage window might not be an issue but if the documents are wrong you could find bigger issues later (we did). HD

Guttering is on and pipes are in. Moving along nicely. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p2hLCPaKWaM/UotKDKCyx1I/AAAAAAAAEn0/V4CgIV8tz7o/s640/IMG_6684.jpg Just not sure what is happening with the frame at the back of the garage. Ah, the joys of chasing builders. I disliked it during construction, and now that I'm two months past handover I like it even less. The list of problems is shrinking slowly, but my bet is we will reach the three month inspection with items outstanding from handover day. If it had the chance to do it...
