Thanks for all the replies folks... Yep, a skylight would let in the light, but it's a two storey building... Further to that, I think a "glowing" splashback will actually look great... Just got to work out how to put it together... Haven't actually seen anyone else use it !

Anyone used a Schwiegen rangehood, or know anything about them ? Supposedly, or so they say on the website, they suck ! In a good way !!! That is to say, they have very good suction, to remove all your kitchen smells and they are also the quietest on the market ( simply because the motor/s are locat...

Hi all, Wanting to let in outside (natural) light through a slump glass splashback... I can picture what I'm after but how would this be built? What goes on the outside brick wall? Non opening window ? Glass bricks (end up with "shadows" from grouting lines) ? Anything else ? Any ideas/suggestions w...

Again, thanks everyone for your replies... Are people finding that they have all selections made (tiles/windows/doors/taps/vanities/kitchens/etc), Basix requirements covered, and at least an accurate sketch, for layout of the residence, (i.e the house at it will be built and as per Council and Basix...

Thankyou all for the replies so far... Please keep them coming... The reason I bring it up is that we've been asked to sign a "construction proposal" and hand over $15000, but we haven't finalised any selections... We've discussed a couple of upgrades here and there and some changes to the standard ...

Hey all, Wow, two thread starters in one day! This one is like the sequel..."The Empire Strikes Back..." From those of you out there that have started, or even finished: what payments were typically made, how much and when? I'm particularly interested in the start game... "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, yo...

By the way, from the experience out there, when does money generally start changing hands and what amount is 'normal'?

PS... the base price for our design recently went up $35000... Well,it didn't actually go up, but $35000 worth of inclusions were removed. Our construction proposal has these inclusions for the same price... Thus our dilema! Any thoughts...

Have done the walking around display villages to death now... Or nearly! Finally decided on a builder and house design, with some modifications, mainly to keep the design within the Council's building code (researched off the web). A sketch is all we really have at this stage. Haven't finalised sele...

Hey Gianna, I'm at the same stage of looking around for a Sydney builder that you're obviously at... Hey Casa, Can't really help too much... A friend of ours highly praised Chateau Homes, saying they had some great tradespeople and built good homes... He hasn't used them himself, but taken an interest in their work in his area. You certainly pay for their work though... Have a look at their website...
