We changed builders right before signing the final contract. All you have signed is an agreement to prepare plans. You can pull out but may lose your deposit.

Yes you will probably save money engaging tradesmen yourself but it will take longer and have to be project managed to get a successful outcome. We got quotes from the companies that do everything and probably saved about 2k organizing it ourselves but we were not too happy with the tradesmen we use...

Retaining walls are normally the responsibility of the owner unless included in the building contract.

I think grey pebble is a good choice. Maybe also look at bleaches?

I think it looks great. Plenty of drawers which I love in a kitchen. Bench space seems fine and you will have plenty of storage with the overheads and pantry. Very similar layout to mine actually - must be why I like it!!

I think it could be a very frustrating job - you can spend a lot of time with people without it actually resulting in a sale. I assume that is why they are always trying to get people to commit early on in the process if possible.

You are the customer, you pay them - so call whenever you want. They are not doing you a favour building your house- it's a business. Also sounds like there is not much process to hold up!
