For the 32 amp socket get the details of the sparky who installed it. A socket this size will almost certainly be wired straight to the meter box on its own circuit breaker and cable (they aren't daisy chained like 10 amp power points). It's a fairly passive setup. Get the gauge and approx length of...

The bigger issue in this situation (in my opinion) is not who pays for fence but what happens if fence is damaged by either side during the build. The earlier the fence goes up the more likely it is to be damage by trades on either side. Nobody will own up to it.

With the butlers tap, we had a note without a price in our spec for along time saying that it was to be the same as the kitchen. Our sales guy agreed with us that the inclusions weren't clear so he slipped it through for free. We got away with it for ages but right near the end someone picked it up...
Did you change the sinks or leave them as standard? Ours are the standard which should be butlers as an overmount singl...

Thanks Doc. Had never heard of chromagen before coming across them with Kings. I have now read some online reviews and they seem pretty grim. The frost vales and leaking is a common complaint. Just hope it's one of those cases where all reviews happen to be bad because nobody bothers to post a posit...

Unfortunately we overlooked the splashback returns. They are included in the standard plans as "glass splashback". We upgraded to starfire glass which shows as "toughened glass splashback" and the returns were deleted at some point but we are not sure when or why. They wee probab...

Looks like water heater footing was there when slab was poured. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170416/fe369c814b2c8ffed4490e2db84f770f.jpg

Gotta love what they use as a 'slab' for the HWS tank. It wasn't even a solid paver - one of the foam infused type. So as soon as we moved it - crack Ours was also a little off centre, but knowing we were going to remove and concrete underneath, didn't worry about it. We had to try a number of plum...

Thanks max. Fully agree it's a bit much for us to ask the concreter to rip up and re-lay the concrete at his expense because of damage done by someone else's dog, hours after he left site. Just bad luck I guess. Appreciate your advice and will look into it.

One lesson learned the hard way guys. Don't pay for your own trades to do work without first seeing the completed work yourself. We had a concrete path laid around southern side of house at the same time the driveway and porch were poured by the builder. We paid the concreter ourselves after he sent...

We are almost finished. We had a PCI walkthrough last Monday (as per the earlier posts) but it was a bit of a disaster. The house was not at PCI level, it wasn't cleaned and council CFO wasn't done. There were some obvious very issues and we shouldn't have been shown the house let alone allowed to d...

Search google for "construction keys" or "project keys". Most builders use them. It allows the builder and their trades to access your lock (and the lock of all their other builds) during construction with a single generic "construction" key. At handover the real key is...

What does it say in your building contract or colours document regarding the tile selection? Don't rule out that the tile supplier (eg beaumonts) may have supplied wrong tiles. Tiler man will just lay what he is given.
