Anyone know how long a block usually takes (on average without rain) to go from road/pipes just being finished to fully signed off and titles received? We are in a tricky situation waiting at the moment and finance approval deadline is lurking. If it is not signed off on time we may have to start al...

Hi everyone, Our new land has no gas and therefore our house could be all electric - 3 phase A/C Reverse Cycle, Cook top, Oven, Appliances, Lighting and Solar Hot Water. Should we swap to gas bottles for running costs or will it not be a huge difference? We also have no water or sewerage. The septic...

I would do a shed, but would spec it up to have a simple wash room in it. then later it can be repurposed once your shoulders and knees pack in from weights. ;) My house has a plumbing point to connect to the shed. Do you know how much adding a toilet / sink room would cost to the shed? This will o...

If you're a bloke its a no brainer. Bigger shed. :-D Make sure you get it insulated and well ventilated. What is the best way to do insulation without spending 5k? They offered glareshield, a window and a whirlybird as well as vermaseel at the bottom. You can have glareshield on the roof or roof an...

I have a dilemma.. Should I build a larger shed say 9x4m rather than a small storage shed? or Add space to the house by adding an extra 5x4m room and additional space elsewhere. The space is required for an indoor gym so both would accommodate the size needed. The shed will cost well over 12k after ...

Yes lots of windows, 3 x 2w in bedrooms, 1x4 in master and 1x2w in wardrobe/ensuite area. 8 in total not 9 sorry. One would be a white timber Venetian and the others would be dual white/grey rollers. I think we might go all rollers just to keep the look from the front the same.

Hi there, Without knowing too much about it, we have opted so far to not include termimesh or barrier additions to our new home on farm land. There isnt much activity in the area although there are some trees next door. Should we be adding termimesh? The builder says we don't have to and it is expen...

Just a quick one, Is it bad to have one window with a different style of window covering such as 1 Venetian bathroom window and 9 roller blinds at the front of the house?

Thanks i think number 2 is probably my least favourite so far. Having a line of tiles waist high seems a bit old school.

We used Boral Glenfern bricks. (We contrasted it with Heifer & Monument) We had issues with the bricks having a defective bevel on 2 points of the brick. If you do go Glenfern make sure you tell your builder not to lay double bevelled bricks as this is definitely a defect. We are currently nego...

Does anyone have a price rough estimate for doing a wall unit - such as the example below (not exactly) - My room is 6m long and would want the whole wall done with cupboards below and bookshelf / tv space above. My guess is 5,000 as a rough start. http://mowtrad.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/elega...

We are getting a ducted split system / electronic heating and cooling system in our 38sq home. We have no gas so we are a bit worried it will cost a fortune to run. 4 beds / dinning / living / theatre / rumpus. However we can close off sections easily and only heat certain rooms or areas. Anyone got...
