Hi Everyone, Does anyone know how I should calculate the gross floor area for CDC for Garage? I know that I should exclude 1 car space from garage area, but not sure how much is 1 car space? Thanks in advance.

The land owners have lodged their application and recently received their CDC approval but their construction has not started yet. We checked their construction plans and found the...

Thanks Sejaed for your reply. Yes we are in Sydney. The issue is first has not send the survey report yet (they said they will but we have not received it yet). Also, the slab will be poured next Tuesday and they said they will not delay it as their survey says slab position is fine. We need to make...

Hi everyone, We are building a double story house in Sydney and have 3 stacker doors (3.6m-3.2m-2.4m wide) in our family, kitchen and dining area (total area:64m2). We are a bit concerned about outside noise being heard and thermal performance of the stacker doors, so we are thinking about upgrading...

Sound insulation will be best from the bricks or Hebel blocks, i.e. from "solid" and relatively thick material. Sound insulation with the batts will help a bit, however, it won't be really defining. You would need to consider metal studs, double/tripple gyprock layers, green glue, furring...
Do you mean sound installation such as Bradford is not common for external walls?

Hebel panels are also relatively thin (either 50 mm or 75 mm), I doubt you are going to getting significant noise insulation improvements in comparison to even standard brick. Most of the cladding will be worse though. Hebel Panels are adding a bit of R value, although Hebel joints as well as frami...

~0.49 higher R value with the Hebel based wall according to this page http://hebel.com.au/r-values-mean-home-building-decisions/ Upgrading your wall insulation where the Scyon fibre cement cladding is used is an option. We prefer to use cladding but worried about noise insulation. I heard R value f...

Hello everyone, We are building 2 story house with hebel, base floor will be rendered and second floor has cladding. We heard cladding can make the house very warm during summer. Is it true? Has anyone experienced this issue with cladding? Thanks

There are a couple of options: 1) Remove the bulkhead and install a new bulkhead with the sliding track built into it. Needs to be robust enough to handle the weight of the doors, so the bulkhead will need to be reinforced witt braces. 2) Keep the current bulkhead and install a barn door sliding tr...
Option 1 is better but would be too much trouble for us I guess. so we will ask builder to do it. Thanks for your help!

Hello, I bought a land recently and I am searching for a style for my future home. After visiting many display homes, I fell in 😍 with Hampton style. I like hampton style facade, kitchen, flooring, etc, but not sure if it is a good choice for homes not close to beach, ( 1.5 hr away from beach). I am...
