Hi guys, Question to plumbers or anyone with expertise. We just had our handover and noticed the bottom part of the free standing bath tub and the bottom of the basin sink does not have silicone caulking. Is that ok or does it depend on the model of the tub/basin? See pictures below. Appreciate your...

Thanks for everyone's input. I will then come back and push the builder to fix it before handover. Thanks so much!

Caulking is to prevent water ingress and the builder should know this. The National Construction Code Parts 1, 2 & 3 can be downloaded free of charge. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/38282_1590299121.png https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/38282_1590299216.png BTW, the photo you posted also shows tha...
Thanks for your reply and I will then definitely chase my builder regarding that. Thank you.

Hi guys, We are about to reach handover. During PCI, we spotted there's this one articulation joint where it has caulking from the top all the way but not near the bottom(about 2 feet from the ground) because it was blocked by a downpipe and theres no way to reach it without removing the pipe. I can...

The purpose of mandatory inspections is to ensure health, safety and amenity of the occupants. That does not include peripheral items such as letterboxes and clothes lines. Many people make mistake believing that OC = completion. Its not Late reply but very helpful for newbies like us. Thank you.

Hi Guys, just wanted to check if anyone recently moved in to their newly built houses in NSW. Does having clothesline and letterbox(or even temporary letterbox) required prior to getting OC?

Thanks for everyone's reply and help. We visited Austral here in NSW and was indeed confirmed that the brick was laid correctly. The only frustrating thing is that the Freedom brick that was supplied to us was from QLD as there is a high demand in NSW. If there's shortage, they will just pull suppli...

I'm struggling with brick selection at the moment and it appears to me there is quite a bit of variation in different batches of Austral bricks. Also the ranges vary from state to state. In the Everyday Range it looks like they have swapped the names of a couple of the colours between the NSW and Q...

Send some pictures over if possible, its hard to match a specific display but it shouldn't look completely different. Bricks are made in batches and they are mixed in when laying. There are some bricks that have a face side. Myles Hi All, Thanks for all your responses thus far. Our bricks is Freedo...

Hi Guys, after our bricks has been cleaned, we noticed that the colour of the bricks were lighter than what we expected. We did a drive by to a house referred by Austral that uses the same type of bricks. Sure enough there was a difference in colour(ours is lighter). One thing I noticed is that the ...

Hi Guys, We are currently disputing a variation raised by our builder. The piering went ahead without our prior consent. Has anyone been hit with the same variation for additional lineal meters of piering? If so, did your builder present any evidence to confirm the actual total lineal meters done on...

Hi Guys, It might sound crazy. But due to the lack of knowledge about building a new home, we overlooked and we didn't ask for a treated timber for our new home. When the frames were delivered and put up, we realised how different it is from other houses as the wood looks natural in colour(stamped a...

Hi StructuralIBIMGuy, Our builder didn't even bother to notify us the date of the actual slab pour. A day before we were given an outrageous cost variation caused by extra piering and steel reinforcement. We visited the site the next day then found out that slab is about to be poured. Obviously, the...
