Can the builder really / actually come after you if you put up a picture saying - this is what you get with Builder XYZ - ? Hi Perthgirl, Noname is correct. So I have personal experience with this when in 2018 I posted photos in this forum of defective work by a builder ( not Metricon) and they sue...

When I built two years ago each extra power point was about $35. $80 now sounds horrible.

Correct! Every state has some sort of a builder's supervisory board and having issues in black and white is essential as verbal promises are worth nothing. The builder will suggest power points along outside outside cavity walls to save the electrician the chasing of single-brick walls, but that pos...

It was actually in my contract to have to contact the manager for a site visit, so I gave the company a quasi legal waiver if an accident happens, but they did not want to accept it, so I visited as often as possible while workmen were on site. The roofer said tom watch as something might fall! Best...

Builders must just love the new virus restrictions, which may stop you from site visits and which the police may enforce, but I live in WA, so I cannot comment. My builder had it in the contract that I cannot visit the site without the building supervisor, which is rubbish as he never gave me his mo...

Correct, but with building being such a complex undertaking and with the architect's charges being quite high due to them being a percentage of building costs, one expects no mistake being made. But you are correct, it pays to check. One overseas TAFE-like female designer masquaraded (spelling!) as ...

Hi, I am looking to build a 270sqm single storey house in the western suburbs of Perth which will be my principle place of residence. My budget for the build is $500,000 and I would like to have a good quality house with some high specs. I would prefer a custom design as opposed to a project build ...

One would think the banks contact a credit rating company before they lend any money if they do not know the financial status themselves. BGC has a reputation of being anti union and anti monopoly, like the old brick and cement monopoly in Perth.

Hi, Newchoice Developments gave me a $50 Bunnings voucher, but that did not stop me from telling the public what sort of problems I ran into regarding costing. I still recommend them as I am aware that time is money and everybody makes mistakes from designer, architect, builder, yourself, etc. and e...

I managed to get the builder to install plugs (sockets) on the rafters. If the LED burns out or I do not like the colour, then I do not have to call in the electrician. I can just crawl into the attic and change the LED myself.

There is a site called RENTBETTER, which charges around $500 to list on realestate and domain and lots of free ones. I found tenants thru them, so I would only have to pay $350 to sell it myself. The first tenant ran a brothel in my house, but the second tenants are worth their weight in gold. When ...

Problem with flooring is that the builder will quote carpets and they will be the cheapest they could find. There is a lot of choice from expensive timber to engineered timber, stick-together hybrid planks, glued vinyl planks, tiles and "stones". Once you know what you want, you can ask th...
