Thanks Emy. My head hurts. We're moving tomorrow ready or not! Wow I go away for a few weeks and the house is done. It looks amazing I can't wait to see pictures of it once you finally put your touches on it with furniture and what not. All the best.

To be fair, PD are getting better. I think now you can have almost anything supplied by Reece as far as bathrooms/taps go. Could be wrong, just he posts I have read lately. We will use all the kitchen carcasses and just put drawers into them. With the finish we want and the handles we want. As far ...

Bella butterfly this is what you get with a volume builder. Anything outside their standard is marked up because they, and their subbies cannot operate on auto pilot. The build requires a lot more supervision and hence time. They do not always get the pricing from suppliers that they get on their s...

Sadly I think what you are up against is not uncommon - as soon as you try to customise things with a project builder costs escalate dramatically. They make their money on volume and if things are non standard it costs them time to get quotes etc whereas using their standard items is quick and easy...

It has been ages since I have had the time to post on here but I need some advice or rather opinions. A few things are holding up progress and I want to know If its worth it to just give in and pay the money or seek a custom builder. Firstly: Costings are overrunning in a most ridiculous manner. I w...

I fully agree with you Marto54 and it's great that you have a good inspector looking after you. Perhaps you should put up his name. As experienced property inspector myself I just want to add the benefit of my experience and that is that you should have at least four inspections during your build a...
Is there a website or a governing body where I can find a good inspector. We are building in Ballarat.

That sounds horrid BB. For what it's worth, Scoopon are blacklisted by me anyway. I turned up for some pamper thing and the place was boarded up. Never tried any of the restaurant ones but haven't heard good things. Cabinet details: Doors make and profile -MDF DDP 125 profile - Ballarat, Door colou...

Just had a look at your build and your BAL is actually higher than mine and my house is 60 squares. I actually opened my quote to confirm $4,950 is my exact cost.

Plus we have all the amenities while sill being driving distance to Melbourne. Are you commuting until you open up the daycar...

wow, over half an acre. beautiful. Surely the BAL would have been pretty hefty though? We are up in yorkdale, so a bit further out, but more room to move and larger blocks than lucas (still only a standard suburban size though at 640m2). We have lived in Ballarat for many years now and love it here...

Brown Hill is a lovely area, nice big blocks too! We have been through this process before with DFH and their inclusions were much better, However all is not lost. bar Reece are now supplying plumbing instead of Tradelink, so the PD quality of sinks, mixers, bath etc has improved dramatically. Mean...
Very big we got a 2666square one for a bargain. Reece is so much better than Tradelink so that is a plus. Our budget is...

So now we have to stick to a cat 1 brick. Does anyone know of any homes built with settlers parch...
