Hi, I am building a new home in Brisbane. I am hoping I might reach some of the energy efficiency conscious folks who understand roof truss designs. My builder (for a new home) is about to ask for the roof truss designs to be done. I am intending on having a 60mm anticon with r2.5 ceiling batts. I d...

Hi All, my builder has presented a building contract to me (the owner) to build my new home in QLD. The building contract is a HIA contract. I definitely agree with you there. 1300 high windows from the floor is too high. It would make the house feel very claustrophobic because you wouldn't get the open feeling that you normally do having the existence of a window.

Hi all, I've been scanning the market in search for a project builder in Brisbane. As I've become more learned along the way, these are a few things I've picked up when dealing with project builders: - what they tend to offer from the start (with your chosen package which comes with a list of inclus...

Can you ask to have some of the exposed windows ie facing North-West or West to have tinted glass to reduce the glare, or even better, for just those ones to be double glazed? Windowfactory, where abouts are you based? What state/area? I'm in Brisbane

I've also messaged you some pics showing them in use by messy teenagers. Ours are tucked around the corner out of line of sight from the bedroom entrance so the no door doesn't bother me like I thought it might. In my signature, if you're on tapatalk, maybe its not visible from there? I'll see if I...

We have a similar size WIR's (1900x1000) with no door in our minor bedrooms. I considered changing this to a standard robe as I wasn't convinced about the no door. However the price the builder wanted to change them was ridiculous and unjustifiable. In practice they work quite well and certainly ho...

At that depth I would just go for a standard 600 depth built in robe rather than walk in robe. The extra 380 won’t be much extra in terms of storage space, and better utilised to make the room more spacious. Referring to the depth dimensions of 980mm, i f I was to increase the depth of the WIR, wha...

Has anyone got a small WIR in their plan (i.e. for a 2nd bedroom)? I am making some changes to the overall internals of my design (based on a project builder's plan), and in doing so I want to reduce the size of a WIR to Bed 4 (to allow room for other things), however, I am wondering if this has go...

Hi all, I am choosing a project builder in Brisbane. The builder offers an upgrade to 2400mm high BIRs in lieu of the standard 2100mm high robes. This comes with one top shelf with one hanging rail underneath. Has anyone found any drawers or cabinetry from IKEA (or similar) that will go well as an a...
