My dh bought our current home here about 8 years ago - we are doing a knock down rebuild here. The clay here is terrible - we got H2D soil that is also P due to trees, so our footings are about 850 deep (ouch), but apparently there are some nicer pockets of soil around here. Apparently if there are ...

Hi, We are just about to sign (and start the process for the soil testing, engineering report etc) and would love some feedback before we sign our next 30 years away!! This will be our first build - we are currently living in an ex-housing trust home which was built in the 50's (and is a tiny 3 bed/...

Double oven or two ovens

Hi, We have selections coming up soon, so need to make a decision on our ovens. I do not want a 900 oven as I don't want that much oven in one and would prefer to have 2 so I have the option to cook at different temperatures or just to heat up a small oven when I only have something small to heat up...

glass splashback for kitchen and tiled in pantry??
Kitchen Splashbacks

Hi, Just wondering if it would look strange to just have the glass splashback in the kitchen and tiles in the pantry. Or am I best to match? For reference - this is our house plan. The pantry does have a cavity slider, so can be closed off. thanks :) https://i.imgur.com/58btqhf.png

High windows
Windows & Doors

Hi, Our builder suggested having high windows for the bedrooms (2,3 and 4). In some ways it makes sense as the walls are on the southern side, no view (apart from neighbours fence) and it means if you have high bed frames or bunks etc, not against a window. So overall, it sounds good, but would that...

hi We had kitchen selections this week and I might have added 3 sets of drawers. The lady couldn't give us a price as the quote goes to the builder, then he will add his margin - I get that, but would love to know approx costs. We are just getting laminate, so no fancy 2 pack etc.

Hi, We are about nearly ready to do selections for the laundry. We just bought a new washing machine (out front loader died) and have a front loader for the first time. Both dh and I are quite tall and have found it a long way down to put in the washing and take it out again. Is it worth raising the...
