Apologies for the spelling, ... but do agapanthus grow well around the sunshine coast ? I'l talking about those green leaf things with the tall blue or white flowers. I've been looking for plants to go down a west side of the house.

I've got a problem with the aircon in my place. The condenser is outside (of course) and it is zoned inside. I didn't really know about it until someone slept in the second bedroom. When it turns on the condenser makes quite a bit of noise and also a "rattle" develops until it starts to re...

We have a great system - Daikin - whole house. BUT ... condenser is located near a bedroom (used by visitors - which is not all bad ... :) ). It can make some noise starting up - nothing bad - but as its on the wall near the window you can hear it and it can wake you up if started early morning (by ...

Not sure if I've seen this here before but .... I've got a fairly large alfresco area. Its rectangular in shape - running longways. However at the back of the house I have another rectangle running halfway along the house - crossways. Its at right angles to the alfresco - but attached to it. Its til...

Call it what you will - does anyone think this area can be too big or too small ? Should it be in proportion to the house and land ? I've worked out a space that takes a reasonable rectangular table - 6/8 chairs, plus a sitting area away from the table area - plus the barbeques. I keep being told mo...

We've almost finished but realise the doors on the built-in in our bedroom (3rd) take up a wider area than we thought. Is there an easy way to convert to sliding doors (floor is slab) ? Any ideas on a cost for conversion to sliding ? Sliding would give us quite an extra bit of room to play with. Che...

Not sure this is the right spot - but does anyone have an "eco" option on their GPS. Was driving to the Grand final in Sydney and it kept sending me all these funny ways. Luckily I knew where I was going so ignored it. But when I checked I found it was on "Eco" option. I assume i...

Has anyone advice on fake grass. I've seen it and it looks pretty good. Not everywhere - but for those hard to get spots - maybe instead of paving ? Comments ?

We've got a ceramic FB pool. The only issue is when we get rain - too much. It can overflow. We could have had an auto outlet but didn't go with it ... :) Any ideas on solutions now ?

Just got two for the front garden. About 1.5/2mts. Any tips for assisting growth. I was told they like to be watered in for 2-3 months - at least - before they start to take off. We're in sand - but it appears to have minerals etc in it - ie dirty black stuff. They look like they are happy - been in...

I see a company trading under a large name is in trouble. Is it right builders can do this ? I find it odd.

I guess this is "General Discussion". When night approaches at our house the nightly Frog Orchestra starts up. When I say starts up - they are deafening some nights. We are on a golf course - 9th Green - which has a long lagoon water trap along it - and beside us. No issues with mossies - ...

We will have a narrow side that needs a gate - attached to house (brick) and fence (colourbond). It's around 2 metres wide. We'd like something that looks good - so no single palings etc. But - allows access to say - a small bob cat. I'd like to be able to lock it properly and have it at about 1.5 -...

Is there a good way to fix hairline cracks in a path or drive. Is it worth the effort ? Is it even possible.

We have a long wall facing west. The rooms on this side get quite warm - one is the garage but one is a bedroom. The bedroom has an air/con - separate to the main system. I have this idea to put a long narrow "fly-over" along that side - maybe 20 metres by 2 metres. BUT the costs quoted ar...

I'm about to do a bit of land - outside - the fence at the back. It is a sloping bit - on sand - with my fence at one long side and bushes/plants at the other side - and I need a border down either end. So a rectangle in a sense. I'm thinking stones and just a few basic plants - eg frangipani. I'll ...

When you decide on a pool - don't forget the insurance. We are in QLD and our pool company just went belly up. We had insurance with SPASA. We had outlayed quite a bit but didn't lose any - except for the policy cost and excess. It is a cost - say around $500 - but certainly saved us. Check the comp...
