I have a question.... When I am choosing the colours for the internals..... do I choose floor colour first and tie benches/cupboards in with that OR visa versa, Or does it really not matter what the floor colours are? By the way I am absolutely clueless with colours ..... I am very "un-designy" :lol...

What is involved with being a home builder? Do you need to a course, and how organized do you need to be? May have to end up doing this as blocks of land are so expensive, we can't possibly afford to buy land and get a company to build as well.

I've had far away and I've had close - I prefer far away. Try sleeping in with two kids playing in a room nearby :( . My kids are only two and five and they are going to appreciate the distance more than me eventually. We have only had them close, due to extremely small (rental) houses. My kids are...

We have been told by a couple of big companies 12 months is normal (that being said I have heard people not in their houses after 18 months) and some smaller companies -around 10 months is normal. I dont think over here- in Perth- you will get it done any sooner than that. hey perthgirl who are you ...

Double brick so the builders can make soo many more mistakes just to stuff the owner up and take the 12 month build to 18 month and beyond.... You would not believe the amount of people I have heard that have had to have walls pulled down as the builder had no idea/ wonky walls/ in the wrong place/b...

One question, do you have land already purchased? No not as yet, we are choosing the type of house we want so that we know the size of the block we need. We didnt want to get the land then find out that the house we want is too big. That being said we have a few blocks of land that we like, we need ...

Thanks vlad76 thats why I said the display houses dont give you a good example of the base houses. As for upgrades, in most things we will be getting just the basic inclusions. We can do the flooring/painting ourselves, landscape hopefully will be with the land sale in the estate, depending on what ...

Well thats a relief. I will try not to feel like a criminal, next time we go out there,--both with looking at/in houses and driving by. If we go out and see the owners of "the house" I think hubby wants to stop and talk. Ask them about the builders etc. I may even get out the car and have a sticky b...

Errr, where does one find a place that doesn't have footpaths? :? That would be some ** town planning right there. So, like, where do you guys walk - like, on the road? In perth (suburbs), and most places have a path on one side only. On our street we have a park opposite us (so no path), the...

We got advised this also. We haven't got land yet, but one of the building companies that we are looking at, advised us to get a block that hasn't got titles yet and put a long settlement date on it ..say 45-60 days. Then as soon as there is access..ie roads, they can go in do all the surveying/soil...

Just read your thread...... and sent a link to a friend who is building with summit. I know things like this don't happen all the time, but it is better to be safe than sorry. I told him to get an independant inspector to make sure everything was done properly, hopefully after reading this he will. ...
