The only thing I don't like about this idea is that you are so far from the kids... I like to be sleeping near my children, especially if they're babies. My daughter is 18 months old and still wakes through the night.... I couldn't imagine having to run down a flight of stairs sometimes 6 times in t...

We have a very active dog. (the vet jokes that he has ADHD...... ) He destroyed the grass in our current house because he runs on it, does his 'business' on it, and then does that little scoot thing after his business which lifts up the grass. The area has pretty much turned to dirt. We don't...

We have to decide by Monday whether to have a normal drop in basin (oval) http://www.plumbingsupply.com/images/barclay-sink-jessica.jpg OR (at a cost of $175 extra per basin) a drop in square basin, similar to th...

Hi there! We've just done our external colour selection... despite the fact we wanted Boral Choc Tan bricks, we've had to settle for Boral Brown Escura Velour..... as it saved us around $5000....... and we've already gone over budget..... I haven't seen a house with the Brown brick - has anyo...

I am trying to decide what brick colour to have before we submit plans to council. The standard inclusions for our house are category 1 bricks - can anyone tell me how I can find out what category one bricks are? I like the Boral Nuvo Domino, but i'm not sure if that is a category 1 brick or if, lik...

We are building a 30sq home with the big M. We were quoted about $12,000 to lay 600mmx600mm porcelain tiles in the living area if we went through M. We were quoted $6,000 to carpet the bedrooms and children's retreat area. We have decided to get our own porcelain tiles and tiler, as well as our own ...

We are going through our electrical plan and making all sorts of changes.... I can see it's going to end up costing an absolute fortune. Can anyone give some tips on how to cut costs, and what we can do after handover to save money? We want downlights throughout, but thought to save costs we could p...

We had our electrical appointment a few days ago and were told that, upon completion, we would need to pay $500-1000 to an electrician to connect the electricity to the street. Apparently the builder only runs the electricity to the boundary, and then we are responsible to get it connected to the st...

We are about 12 weeks from completion and neither of my side neighbours have started building... in fact, not even pegs  . I am starting to stress because we can't move in without fences (we have a toddler and a dog) and know that people are reluctant to pay for and erect fences when they hav...

Hi there. Building the Milano 30 with M. We have almost decided on kitchen colours and extras (we're having white cupboards on white caesar bench tops with a silver/metallic almost stainless steel looking glass splashback). We have stainless steel appliances so we're going for a modern white/stainle...

We have to submit a landscaping plan with our DA Approval with council. I've been told that a landscaping plan can cost anywhere between $600 and $1500. We only want very basic plans as it's going to be a while before we can even afford proper landscaping.. Can anyone recommend a cheapish landscaper...

I need some help deciding what laundry floor tiles to have. Our house will have 600mmx600mm glossy porcelain tiles in a white/biege colour - laid after handover. Our laundry runs off our kitchen so that you can see it if the door is open. Hubby wants to put darker floor tiles in the laundry, but i'm...

We are building the Milano 30 with M3tr1con. Just finalising all the 'extras' before we sign the tender in a few weeks. The land we are building on is in an estate where M3tr1con are one of the 6 builders allowed to build. The specific block won't be registered for a while and they expect it to be r...

I need to decide my colours fairly soon. Bricks and roof tiles must be Boral (covenant in the estate). The link to our facade isn't working.... but it's a single story, brick, and the front main bedroom is feature cladding. So far I am settled on the CHOC TAN brick http://i86.servimg.com/u/f86/13/36...

I had a look at our slab and frame over the weekend and noticed that the pipes for the double vanity in the ensuite and the single vanity in the main bathroom actually sit sort of under the frame. The frame sits on top if it a little, instead of sitting behind it. I raised this over the phone with m...
