The biggest thing IMO is the amount of fall on the block and the amount of fill. Get a block as flat as possible with as little fill as possible. Site costs are largely dictated by these things. You don't want to buy a nice looking block and then find that it needs screw piles or piers because it's ...

My house only has small bedrooms of roughly 2.8X3m and a master with a retreat of around 6x4m. As most PD customers would appreciate, you don't get big kids rooms unless you go over about 40 squares. The thing is most people want a lounge, family room, rumpus, study, another 3 bedrooms, large master...

LOL - I see why he chose that name - Al from Married with Children would have answered that question the exact same way: 'Well gee Peg, here's a thought, a bit out of left field but here goes anyway. Contact the builder and ask them.' Anyway I reckon around $800-$1000. I'm only going by the cost of ...

Thats a great idea to keep pictures of stuff you like and get as many ideas as possible. When it comes to deciding what type and style of house you want it can take a very long time. Lets face it - you are going to spend the next 3 years thinking about it whether you start looking now or later. So i...

It's strange that with all this business of saving energy people are bulding bigger & bigger houses. Like many people I grew up in a 14 square house and my first house was 12 squares. My new house will be 29 squares (really it's about 24 once you take out the garage and alfresco) and to me it's ...

It's basically just a standard HIA contract though. So if you want to see whats in it just look it up or ask for a sample copy of the HIA contract. Other than that there is just the changes/selections you have made to the house and a few changes they make regarding the number of days and penalties. ...

I had PD do the rough in for me for $450 where basically all that is left to do is install the until on the wall in the garage at the pipe outlet and put the face plates on at the inlets. I had a quote for unit supply and install including hose and fittings etc for $595. So I should save a little fr...

I'm wondering if buying an investment property in a market that experts believe is set to fall in price (especially Perth) is such a good investment. You could bust your gut paying off 100k of it only to find it's worth 100k less than what you paid for it. By all means I'd keep your current property...

I like the suckers that write a review before they have even started building - just you wait.... I think my builder has been writing it's own reviews because I find it hard to believe so many people would give 5 stars when there are many others that have virtually nothing positive to say. I submitt...

If you can get ADSL or Cable then I don't see the point of going wireless. Surely it won't take long to get connected. That said there are many areas, particularly new estates that do not have any form of ADSL or cable. In fact I'd say there are more people that don't have access to naked ADSL than ...

I've been living in my house the past 6 weeks with no flooring. For me I would do it again but I'm the only person living there. I think it would be alot harder with a whole family. The problem is that anything that comes in contact with the floor will get dirty - the dust comes straight off but it ...

The only thing I think is unjust about the current fixed rate vs variable rate system is the lack of public awareness of the break costs on fixed interest loans. I wonder how many people who sign up for a fixed interest loan are aware of the break costs. Having visited brokers and banks in the past ...
