Hi, I have engineered stone over my breakfast bar and it is sagging. Does anyone know if this can be rectified or if it needs to be replaced? It has a metal bar beneath for support but that also seems to be sagging a little. The stone is about 20mm thick and I have the installer coming out to look a...

Hi all, When our house was built the paving out the back partially covers the weep holes. Weep holes are about 2 courses high and paving comes up 1 course. So there's still about 90mm of the weep hole visible. I've seen a lot of discussion around not covering the weep holes at all but my issue is th...

Not really concerned about the brick, it's the timber flooring, cabinetry, skirting etc that could succumb to termites

Ok so if there is no issue with it, why do a lot of people say "don't partially cover weep holes as it will attract termites"? Doing some research it seems to be a common phrase I've come across and I'm trying to work out whether or not it is actually a problem if I laid paving against the...

I’ve got a house which is about 15 years old and has some ceiling cracking. What is the best way to repair this or does anyone have a good quality repairman in the Perth area that could do the job? https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/95551_1599361476.jpeg

Can you shoot a general photo of your ceiling? Which materials used to build your ceilings? I’ll try and get one tomorrow but it’s at my mums place. The ceiling is gyprock and they’ve used the ceiling tape at the joins. The ceiling was painted originally but when it began to sag and was re-fixed in...

Hi, I've built two brick planters in my front yard. One next to me letterbox, and one in front of the house. Both are waterproofed with 3 layers of bitumen paint on the inside of the brickwork and the footing. I have left approx 200-220mm wide in the middle of each footing to allow for drainage. Thi...

Yep located in WA. Site classification according to the site report is Class A relevant to Australian Standard 2870. It's described as "Most sand and rock sites with little or no ground movement from moisture changes". Not sure if that means anything with regards to my query.

Hi, I experienced a small sink hole in my backyard which is at the side of my soakwell. The builder came out to look at it and the plumbers checked to ensure their stormwater pipes were still connected. They backfilled it again and left. I am still seeing very soft soil around the soakwell. I can st...

Hi, I have some minor brickwork efflorescence on some garden beds around the house. The garden beds have been internally coated with 2-3 coats of Ormonoid Bitkote No.3. What is the best product to use for cleaning the efflorescence off the brickwork to ensure it won't come back again? I've seen some...
