General Discussion

Given the recent developments and the economic uncertainty, I was after some advice on what would be reasonable to negotiate with builders in terms of price? Where do we start? We've been told that if we d...

Tell them that building cost should go down at least 20% next year due to economic recession and lots of cheaper qualified labour available on the market. Materials cost should go down too because of the lower demand. Moreover, the builders should be ready to cut out on their margins and learn how ...
Many thanks, my other concern is whether they actually WILL be around next year after we sign our building contract. Ho...

We've done this for clients on two renos to existing homes but these were also traditionally roofed houses. Stewie We too have been told that the ceiling will need to drop to accommodate...

Hi everyone Our island bench will be quite big, so we are considering placing our cooktop on it. I'm looking at cooktops with integrated ventilation. Does anyone have any experience with these? Is the extractor strong enough? I've always said that it needs to be strong enough to be able to cook stea...

We too made the mistake of making our laundry small. In our new build, I'm hoping to have a bigger more functional space.

It probably depends how much time you spend doing the laundry I guess. I spend lots of time washing as I have 3 young c...

Hi everyone We are planning on having a bathtub in our main bathroom and ensuite. My partner thinks we will save a bit of money by not having a bathtub in the ensuite. We are building a new home, and I wanted to use this style of doors in our l/shaped op...

What's everyone's thoughts on laminate cabinetry throughout a new home, but with high end bench tops and taps etc. Do we spend the extra money to upgrade to 2pac? I think the price difference would be significant?
