General Discussion

I recently purchased a house on a private road and it has a community title. We have to pay strata fees for maintenance of road and basically the street lights. We are also paying council fees. So much money for what others are jut getting with the council fees. if i were you, I'd avoid it if you can.

Building A New House

Hey guys, I just got a letter from my Builder stating that they can’t do the colour that I’ve chosen for my walls (Taubmans: Mobster). The reason they’ve given is that it’ll show joints in the Gyprock and setting. The problem is we did our whole colour selection based on the walls having this colour...

Hey thanks for that. I’m located in NSW and I’m going to be building in Box Hill. Just want to see if what I have will work and before I start shopping for builders.

I actually think your builder is possibly doing the right thing here, as they might have had past issues with similar paint colours? They are correct that Level 4 finish is the standard in the industry, and I know this because we are going to be getting Level 5 specifically along our hallway due to...
I get where you are coming from but I’m not a builder I only go by what they tell me. And if they say then can do a col...

This is classic 101 bait pricing approach. You have chosen champion because they are cheap upfront. However they do catch up on some of the costs at a later stage. It pays to pick or inform your builder (champion or otherwise) to provide you with a fixed price upfront to avoid nasty surprises. Ther...

Hi all, I am currently in the process of buying land and house package. The land and house are 2 separate contracts and the relevant state is NSW. I would like to know from those who have gone through similar process in NSW, when do I need to pay the stamp duty (approx $8,000). thanks It needs to b...
It needs to be paid 3 months to the date of purchase. But you can pay it later but you incur some cost from state reven...

I think the biggest deterrence is the price. In the areas you listed the price of a >400sqm block is upwards of $500k. That being said most people buying the new releases are first home buyers of which this is a price thats hard to afford. Not to mention eliminates you from getting the first home ow...

Just bought some land in this area and decided to start this topic for anyone else who's bought in the area. I've looked around and there's not much information apart from the one on their website so thought we'd share information and updates. This is what it looks like now (a farm) https://uploads....

Hi Mate, Thanks for the update. I think it will stretch to June anyway since another agent told me they are selling land based on registration in June. Apart from this, my lot is 14. I understand the lots facing on both sides of Lina's way road have to pay a levy for maintenance of Lina's way road ...
This is the first I’ve heard of this. It’ll definitely be one of my questions to my lawyers as well. As to the date bei...
