I think Pinterest or Houzz are great places to start to get an idea file going. I also trawl realestate.com.au to get more ideas on design & styles etc. I've also got a hard copy design book of pages taken from magazines also! I'm then going to search the net for similar looking products to find...

IF you get no joy from those, I'd sell. Quite frankly, large trees should be banned from all residential blocks under 1000m2 or so, they cause more problems than they are worth . Ah just what we need on these forums - more rednecks with their chainsaws ! We're about to lodge our plans with our coun...

lol JAcarandas are a PIA tree, go completely bare in winter, and you have to deal with those stupid purple soggy petals all year round. Id never want one on my property. Yeah they're shocking and I don't know how we put up with this horrible looking tree. ::wink:: http://i1212.photobucket.com/album...

We had never even considered putting carpet in bedrooms, or anywhere in the house for our new build. We have carpet in our current home in our bedroom and the other rooms, and it is a total pain. We have polished concrete (retro polished, after ripping up carpet) in the living, dining etc. Being rur...

We've got vinyl everywhere except the bathroom and laundry/mudroom (kind of wishing we had it there too. Only been living in the house a few weeks, but proving so far to be easy to clean with 4 dogs, 2 cats and a toddler

We have polished concrete (retro polished, after ripping up carpet) in the living, dining etc. That's an interesting idea, I thought people usually have polished concrete if it is done during the build. Is it a very complicated and messy process with an existing slab? Hi JJ we just hired a machine ...

Thanks Stewie. Again, info I wish I'd found prior to making the purchase. Not sure what others think, but to me, it seems that the product really isn't up to the rigours of being used as a kitchen benchtop. Dunno, maybe others are happy enough to fork out the $ knowing that the product will inevita...
I think its important to realise that the benchtop is still perfectly capable of performing as a kitchen benchtop - wit...

I would try Andreasens, they may not have any in stock but may be able to direct you to somewhere who might. We have two advanced but grafted Japanese maples. Not cheap but just stunning all year round.

Congratulations on your purchase :: :: hope they get all the contracts signed shortly, so it doesn't slow things down. Your style of build is very similar to the look we are after with our new build. Might be a very silly question - if we have a laminate floor on northern facing rooms (living, kitchen etc), will we totally remove the whole heat sink idea? I'm not a real fan of tiles (although I have just discovered the timber look tiles that are expensive), and polished concrete isn't really goi...

I don't think you would remove it entirely but a good slice of it would disappear. The laminated boards usually have an underlay underneath which would stop the slab heating up a certain amount. Stewie Thanks Stewie D - have found some tiles that may suit (Timber look or Sandstone look or B&W M...

Love the toenails! ;) But what about the kitchen?!? Weren't you going to get pricing to see if you could do the moulded doors or not? Haha, yes the toenails definitely compliment the tile selection ;) Oh yes, the kitchen! My brain is so frazzled and I'm on too many forums with too many threads I ha...

Would love some feedback on this plan I've drawn up on my Ipad - designed for the Southern Highlands in NSW Uncovered pergola and living areas on the north side. Its not a room that suits my lifestyle. We are quite content watching a movie on the TV in the combined Dining/Family room, we just close the blinds. I think if it suits your lifestyle then go for it - for me its just another room to furnish, power and clean - we spend much more time outside than in...

Wow it looks fantastic! I love the layout of the home too - Is the fireplace going to sit in an alcove, or be bricked in at the top like an english style fireplace? (Standalone fireplace with the flue bricked in or done with stone?) With room to put timber and accessories on both sides of the firepl...
