For those with kids, any advice on the sorts of things we should be thinking about when planning our new build? eg- types of flooring / use of spaces / ...

Ummmm. The story sounds so strange to begin with! Why would he not deal with your wife by herself?! I'm sure in building a house, and decorating etc, many decisions are made by either one or the other spouse/partner involved and not both every time! Strange indeed! And, as a teacher, our policy is n...

Wow. Tough crowd indeed!! Thanks to those of you who replied with tactful and helpful feedback!! I agree that some plant screening of some sort would be excellent and once we do have the garden up and running it may not be as noticeable! Clumping bamboo or pitostrum (sp?) would be great. Thanks again.

We've been in our new house 2 weeks now and yet to plan the backyard. The house next door sold and the new neighbours have also just moved in and erected this monstrosity 1 meter away from our back/side fence (and where we thought we might put our kids play area). Hideous!! http://img.tapatalk.com/d...

If you have trouble finding the mirror you like, you could try going to a frames shop and get a decorative frame made then have the glass put in. :D this. We had a pre existing plain glass mirror attached to the wall when we bought our first home. It looked unfinished so we ordered an amazing frame...

Ooooh we are going to use these too in a month or do. Would love to see how it turns out for you. We love the board and have high hopes for it! We will be laying ours vertically/longways the length of the corridor and matching that throughout (if that makes sense?!)

We were undervalued by our first bank by 50k and mucked around by them for 3 months trying to sort finances and get building!! In the end, we broke our loan with them (land portion) and got ANZ and NAB to do valuations. Both these banks came back 100% value. So we jumped ship from horrid first bank ...

Hi All We have just selected colours for our build but now I am second guessing! We have selected lighter coloured upper cupboards (pumice?!) and slightly darker (velveteen) lower cupboards. Our kitchen splash back is tiled in a stone/mocha with a window reveal. Caesar stone is ivory. Really worried...

Hi All, I am new to this forum. Hubby and I are looking at building a Porter Davis home (we just have to sell our current house first!). We were at the quote stage in Dec, but still waiting on the sale of our house until we can sign a contract. I must say I am really disappointed with the new "...
