Thanks saxien! Your advice has been superb! The squaring off idea of the archway is brilliant. It really would update the house brilliantly along with putting up the walls. Thanks Again!

Yeah, I agree with going with Ebay. To figure out how much to sell your sofas for, just do a little research on other sofa prices on ebay. Do a "buy it now" price and start your auction at a reserve you are happy with. Describing your furnniture as "smoke-free" and "pet-free" really helps if that is...

I just made an offer on this house (offer was accepted). We would really like to put up two walls to replace the banisters as they look so out of place. I was looking to find out what this would cost us. This is the lounge with the horrid banister. We want to put up a wall that gives the passage som...

I wish we were handy people around the house, but it's not the case. Most times we end up making things worse when we do it ourselves. But thanks for the info and the heads up so we know what this job will take. We are most likely looking for someone professional to do this for us. We are in the Ben...

Sharee, You have yourself a beautiful home! I can see the little details you added to it- the love is in the details. Isn't going to be hard for you to move? As far as the wall decals go, they might appeal to the would-be buyers. I think most people know that these decals are completely removable an...

Our personal experience with a valuer wasn't so good. We needed our house valued to buy an investment property. The valuer came in and valued our house at $550,000 when we expected at least $600,000. Their data showed that houses on our block were sellling for around $530,000 approx. However we know...

I am moving into my first home next month. I was hoping to get some advice on what colour to repaint the walls of my new house. I'm not a big fan of that lime green colour. I wanted to give the house some warmth and lively energy to it. My husband is Indian and I am Mexican, and we want to choose co...

Yes it is a Henley, the Majestic. We were thinking of building a wilshire, but we miraculously came across this house! I am really looking forward to hearing more ideas. I was inclined to go with purplish/redish hues, but am open to explore more colours. Keep the suggestions coming! Thanks.

This is the kitchen. It is overlooking the family room. The kitchen has white cabinets and a black granite bench top with grey and white large specks. I really liked that burnt red colour that you mentioned before Michelle. What if I use a darker purple for the entrance with sunflowers? Would that b...

One year ago, we bought a 3 year old house built by H*N*LY. For some reason there is water damage in all three toilets upstairs. We first noticed this in the ensuite, then later on the other two toilets upstairs. We called the builder, and they are sending out an inspector. I'm not too optimistic ab...

Thanks for your help. I'm having a look over the Australian Standards to waterproofing. The inspector is coming today. Let's see what he says. Fingers crossed. Thanks again!

FYI...The inspector just saw everything and agreed that there needs to be work done to the toilets. He already scheduled someone to come out and do the work as early as this week. I'm glad we didn't have to convince him of their responsibility in this matter. My husbad reckons that they have seen th...

Too bad we don't live in Sydney to take advantage of the door sale. Our house is over 15 years old and doesn't have sliding doors, only a single door leading to the backyard. So we still have the problem with getting the sofa, dining table, and huge Ikea bookcase in. I might have to get a builder in ...

I just needed some advice on how much this would cost me and if this is a good idea. We are going to move in to the house and have no idea how to fit all of our furniture thru the doorway. Even the back door is narrow and the internal door leading to the garage is narrow. I wouldn't mind having a wi...

My husband and I have decided to build the Wilshire from Henley homes. I was just wondering if anyone has had some experience building with Henley. I'm particularly worried about the site costs. They won't even give me a price range as to what to expect in site costs.

Thanks guys for all your replies. I'm planning to build around the Point Cook area in Melbourne. I'm hoping the site costs aren't more than $6k. I've been told that going with a private builder is more risky than going with a large company like Henley. I think going with any builder will have some r...

Don't worry TonyP. You can still get your money back. We just got our $550 refund back in the mail two days ago. We also fell in love with the Henley range (the wilshire specifically) but were scared off by the site costs that could have amounted to $30,000 since the plot of land that we had put a d...
