The consultant said it would be fine to visit, and by 1-4 times a week I included just watching from outside (i.e. across the road, for example when they’re doing the slabs and framework etc). I had read posts and it seemed like lots of people very visiting multiple times a week so I assumed this wo...

I’m just worried about missing things when I go to inspect, as I can’t have an inspector with me every time I go (which would likely be 1-4 times a week). Any tips on this? Still a bit confused about this. Like Norfolk said, noticed issues & had to tell them multiple times fix it i.e. bathroom w...

Hi guys, I’ve had a look at some previous threads talking about getting private building inspectors to come in at different stages to check. We plan to do this as well. However, I noticed that there was some debate about many private inspectors not having the qualifications (structural engineers)? s...

@Renman we did some calculations and it’s roughly $940k total for it done with pretty good upgrades (carpet, floorboards, 60/40mm benchtops, tiles etc). I think this is pretty good for the quality we’ll get. I’m not sure how much extra we’d be spending on the landscaping, driveway and fencing though...

That’s not too bad considering the big change. All good as long as there’s no random costs coming in, dad’s mainly worried about that :D

That’s great to hear! From what I’ve read some SS can be terrible :( My dads super worried about extra hidden costs after we have a total cost set (everything including upgrades) cause we’re really pushing our budget atm (with $1m for land costs). He was just telling me about - oh what if they say t...

Yep, we just went through costs with a base + promo pack and air con on the 59 sq Somerset at 875k, probably around 900 after final upgrades. It seems like the price has increased quite a bit, considering you got a whooping 67 squares on a similar style! I’m very jealous haha. Did you try to haggle ...

Thank you! That’s not bad actually, I’m assuming that’s not including site costs (was told that it’s roughly 50-100k)? I had a quick skim at your thread just now and think I’m going to have to binge read it when I get home tonight to get some ideas :D

Thanks for the responses everyone. @Stanis I went through all 50 pages of vuster’s post and it was very useful! I went and saw the La Pyrenee 68 which is 878k base and the display was $1.68m which is over budget which is why we’re considering Bordeaux 59. We’re mainly focused on getting nice floor a...

Hey guys, We are thinking of building with Metricon but noticed there's quite a bit of negative feedback online - mainly quality issues, leaks, bad communication, things not being included & only told of later (gas, water connection etc.) etc. so I was just wondering if anyone has had similar pr...
