We installed Amsterdam 15 months ago into our newly constructed house. It is a great product, very hard wearing and easy to clean. Having now been through one summer and two winters (temps range from 4-40 degrees here), I’m very pleased that there has been no movement, no lifting and no gapping betw...

We laid Quantum planks in Amsterdam and very pleased with the result. I borrowed a couple of sample planks from a local retailer and that really helped in our decisionmaking. I found the colour tone to be very similar to the brochure.

We installed Quantum planks 18 months ago on a concrete floor and have huge glass sliding doors, we have had no fading from the sun. It is very easy to look after. We are very happy.

Val G. if that is your own design, it will cost more than if you went for a standard Statesman design which you then modified to suit your needs.

Hi Bebsy, Please share your experience with Statesman. have you got some dot points to pay attention on something before sign contract and pay deposit A couple of things to look out for. 1. The base price of the house you are planning to build might be around $150k, but by the time you have made ch...

We built with Statesman and moved into our house last February. Very happy with the quality of the build. We did visit the site every other day and picked up a few mistakes which were corrected fairly quickly. Never had a direct discussion with our construction supervisor until handover, all communi...

Definitely go for the double garage. Off street parking is really important to home buyers, and these days there are more 2 car families than ever before.

The shower alcove in our main bathroom is 2400mmx1000mm. Unsure if it’s the same as you call a partition wall, but we have what our builder describes as nib walls at either end of the shower alcove, with a wide glass door and a narrow fixed glass panel in between. Each nib wall (2700mmx600mm) cost ...
Hi Bebbsy thanks for sharing the details. By any chance do you have a photo of your installation ? Thanks

We have built 3 houses over the last 20 years, each with large project home builders in Adelaide. Each house was based on an existing design with some modifications specific to our needs. One of the biggest lessons we learned was to visualise how we will live in each room and where we will position ...

Has this floorplan been built as a display home that you can visit and actually walk through? You need to be able to envision living in this house. Unless you are a single person or a couple I can’t see how you would position furniture in such a small living area (3m depth) and it be functional for ...

Looking at your two photos, whatever they treated your bricks with appears to have made it far worse.

We moved into our house 8 months ago. We have had a similar issue with our PGH Oyster bricks, nowhere near as bad as yours though. Ours have discoloured without patches of brown manganese stains along a west facing wall which gets a lot of summer sun and rain during winter. The builder sent someone ...

[quote="DamNita":2cfdd42c]I have plantation shutters on my front windows. I hate to say it, but I don't like them now and regret it. Mainly because I didn't consider the aesthetics when looking at them from the outside. Our windows are a beigey colour (I didn't build our new house, so didn...

Great floorplan, love the facade, it will be a beautiful house when it’s finished but I think you’re going to need a cleaner because it’s huge! 😉 Two points to consider is to ensure you have soundproofing in the walls between bedrooms and living areas so noise does not carry into sleeping areas, and...

Nice floorplan, flows well, perhaps a bit more storage required. You can never have enough! The alcove in the hallway to beds 3 and 4, are you using that space for a storage cupboard? If not then perhaps consider putting one there with shelving for storing general stuff such as kids toys, board game...

We elected to tile the kitchen splashback after handover. Only a small job and easy enough to find a local tiler, but we had opted for a very large format tile not offered by the builder, so had no option but to get a credit back and organise ourselves. Don’t think we would have chosen to go this wa...

Huge improvement to the floorplan, the house actually makes sense now. Would definitely extend out the kitchen/laundry and bedroom wall to increase room sizes unless there’s a really good reason not to. Only change I would make is to reduce the width of the toilet as it has an excessively large vani...

Good question, there was a reason but I can’t remember what that was. Something to do with being able to gain access that room in an emergency, eg someone collapses in the toilet. We built this design too, but modified it so although the toilet door still opens outward, it swings back to the wall an...
