Hi all. We had an inspection for pre plaster stage and some areas were noted to not meet the minimum standard where there were a number of inadequately filled mortar joints internally. The builder says they are not willing to do checks for us elsewhere in the house and take any plaster down when we...
Also , if those photos you taken are not garage. I don't see any building wrap? I guess its normal for some build thoug...

As Gaudi has said, in Victoria the builder is not allowed to employ their own building surveyor and there are very good reasons why they are no longer allowed to do this. The VBA has information on their website about who appoints a building surveyor and it is a real concern if your intended builde...

Mimosa homes. It’s a new ‘administration free’ according to them and because they are a ‘volume builder’ they cannot alter the contract.... yeah sure.... They have altered the standard contract to include the clause!!! The builder is full of 'IT'.

Build has started, Mimosa was really quick to attend the site. I have engaged Darbecca as independent inspectors and so far their response has been good. Pre-slab inspection was done 5/Dec with 7 defects. Report has been sent to Mimosa and been advised that corrections have been made and pictures w...

You have a statutory right to an inspection and you cannot be charged for your legal rights. Contract cannot override your statutory rights. If you are in Vic you can refer to VBA. Thank you for that feedback Is there something in particular I should look at that refers directly to this? I'm trying...

My builder (volume builder) tried putting in an extra 2 weeks to the contract period for every inspection, however I was able to get them to change it to the effect that no time will be added for genuine defects in relation to relevant standards etc etc . So far they have been surprisingly cooperat...
I should have had darbecca review mine. The people that did have not been helpful at all. Told us it was a breach and c...

Which builder is this? It's the first I've heard of it. Mimosa homes. This must be something they only introduced recently, as I was allow...

On a related topic, I've been told by a colleague that his builder prohibits independent stage inspections. Apparently its written into this contract. Surely this can't be legal? Builder is Allworth homes. Nope that’s not right it’s within his rights to have them. Consumer affairs website will tell...

Don't bother getting legal advice, the contract isn't signed anyway. Also, if you do get legal advice on the building contract, then you have waived away your statutory cooling off period. Don't waste your money on lawyers, especially if you haven't even signed anything! Well I don't plan to pay a ...

Put it in writing that you refuse to sign the contract with that clause. Also request all your engineering etc thus far and balance refund. You can't possibly engage a builder that is treating you like that. Imagine the crap they will try and pull later. Consider it a blessing in disguise. I know. ...

You can choose not to sign the contract, just get a new builder. I get that but we do not really want to go down this path. They have been pretty good so far with everything else and our requests and also doing custom design to suit our land. This is the only issue I am trying to sort out and wheth...

While the are not stopping us from access to site and allowing this I do think it is questionable to charge us for this basic right in a construction.. I...
