Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a minimum gauge wire that is required from the mains on a new home. I'm just wondering because we just had some aircons installed and the electrician said that he has never seen a new house with 10 gauge wire (just one cable - single p...

I would in NO way ever defend builders... In my experience with Adenb***k they are SOOO greedy, even to the point where when I offered one tradie a bit of cash on the side for a tiny extra job and he told me the SS would pull his work down if they didn't make their margin on it. Having said that I d...

I guess it depends on your builder. Ours wanted $10k for about 100m2. We went into the shop that supplies them and we could do the exact same tiles for $6k (supplied and layed). We are still going to spend $10k but we got to choose much nicer tiles from a complete range instead of a "builder's range...

My builder quoted us $102 per downlight. We are going to do them ourselves after handover. You should be paying around $25-$30 for the wiring and installation + the cost of the downlight ($5-$20). what we did was we put the 1 included light fitting (batton light) in the position of a future downligh...

My advice... GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!! If they offer you something or tell you something and you can't see it clearly on the contract then refuse to sign it's written down. I don't have experience with PD but my builder (Adenb***k) promise you the world but never deliver.

Umm just a little thing but if the window is a standard 1810mm and the blind is 1800mm then that is a 5mm gap either side not to mention you do require a small gap so the blinds don't catch on the window reveals when you raise and lower the blind. Also your standard alum. windows have approx. 15mm ...

Yeah I think we're both going through Adenbrook. They did the same to me... the invoice was dated the friday and they expect payment within 7 days. They then re-sent a new invoice the next Tuesday and BACKDATED it to the Friday because they had undercharged me by $6. Luckily the person that sent it ...

I have no intention of 'not paying' but I just don't want to come on here in 1 week and be like "OMG I PAYED FOR MY SLAB AND DIDN'T NOTICE XYZ".

The portico is the "arch" or pillars at the front of the house that you walk through just before you get to the front door. The eaves are the overhang from the roof that provide shade for windows/paths etc... It's so good to see people using this website BEFORE they have a contract. If only we all h...

My door cost me $2000.... If this happened to me I would give them the choice of giving me the door for free or replacing it. I guess it depends on how generous they were with pricing. If they made you pay for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING then you had better make sure you get your moneys worth. I plan on g...

I was told that my block would be cut on Friday and I went past yesterday (Wednesday) and they had just done it that morning. It was a very plesant suprise. If Adenbrook are 2 days ahead then your block might get cut today :D It's pretty good weather today!!

morons...... Hardly a fair comment, I’m sure if Matt checked his plans that he signed off the downpipe is marked in that spot. I guess this is another lesson learned and anyone not sure how to go through your plans thoroughly before signing off might pay to have some third party go over them to che...

We did come to some kind of comprimise... We wrote a very in depth letter to the head of the company and they have since told us that they have made major changes to their company to prevent the same problems again. In the end we had 2 major compaints. 1 was that our consultant refused to give us a ...

If someone is ranting on here then there is probably a good reason for it... If its bad enough that they want it removed from a forum then you probably have a very nice story that the media would love to hear about. I think it's good that ******* builders get their name shunned when they do the wron...
