Hi I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I'm planning to buy a new king bed and I've seen one I really like. It's on slats and I've always had ensembles before. My concern is my mattress is a standard king which is 183cm wide and the bed internal measurement is 188cm wide so they'll be 2.5cm g...

Hi. I'm struggling to pick carpet. My walls are a light grey although they are slightly darker than I thought they'd be. I like soft pale tones. I'm struggling with carpet colour upstairs. Downstairs were having timber floors. I know grey is the obvious choice but I don't want the place to look too ...

Hi I could do with some advice and recommendations for my walk in robe. You walk through the the WIR to get into the ensuite and in the ensuite we have white 2 pax shaker door cabinetry. As the two rooms are connected and next to each other we thought we should do our walk in robe in white also. We'...

Thanks everyone. And good advice Freye It's not actually the builder charging us but the painter. The builder is just passing on the cost the painter is charging. I'm meeting the painter early next week to try and sort something out. Where we have actually had a issue with the builder is that in the...

Frye- yep I get your point. And that's what we concluded must be the reason. But surely it's not $1300 worth of extra work? It's the amount the staggers me.

Builders charge $250 per wall so I think the pricing is spot on. If u want Save paint the walls after handover But I'm not asking for 3 new rooms to be painted. I just want them a different colour. Same amount of work and same amount of paint.

When you say it is for paint are you meaning this sounds reasonable? Or meaning increasing the cost to $1300 is too much just for paint? I'm afraid I disagree that $1300 isn't much mm Rubin terms of construction. All costs need to be justified! Would you say the same if the electrician turns round a...

Thank you everyone for your help and photos. They do look good. I guess my only concern is really if they work in a bathroom. I've seen photos and they look good but ice not actually seen them myself at any houses. So I feel like I'm taking a risk and concerned that if we so ever sell out home peopl...

Hello I know this is largely down to personal opinion but my head is spinning owth my bathroom tiles and I'd love opinions I am thinking of putting a timber tile down in the bathroom floor- it would run into the shower also. The walls have white panelling half way up and I'm going to paint a sift gr...

Thanks for your reply PHL. We are using PLUM but our cabinet maker said we would need shadow line. Are the mechanical push a lot more expensive? Id rather just do two but for the same reason as you I don't want to open two drawers to get a fork out! Those people with two drawers does this bother you...

Hi We are doing all our cabinets under the bench top as drawers with shadowlines ie handles. Now we have the decision to make on whether we to go for 2 deep drawers with a hidden drawer inside the top one or 1 small drawer and 2 medium. By this I'm referring to number of drawers going from bench top...

We were going to go for timber but we keep pushing our budget more and more and are trying to find ways to keep the costs down Our builder raves about vinyl planks saying they are less likely to scratch, nicer to walk on and look like real timber. Those of you with the vinyl are you happy with it? D...

We are building a new 2 storey home. In the current plans there is an open plan kitchen / living/ dining downstairs. As you come up the stairs we have a rumpus area with an indoor balcony that overlooks the dining area. So basically above the dining area downstairs we have a void that goes up to the...

Thanks both - that's really helpful. Photos really help me visualise. I think as your a metre longer tbrown we should go the extra metre wide to stop us being squeezed in. Do you know how long your table is? Your layout is pretty much what I want! Thanks!

Hi We are getting close to finalising our house plans. We have an alfresco area that is 7.6m x 4m but I'm not sure if this is going to be big enough and if I should make it 5m wide. On it id like to fit a build in BBQ area, 8 seater table and ideally also have an area to fit a few small armchairs an...
