Thanks. I'm still leaning towards the double door. Intend to keep it open most of the time to give open plan ambience. Only closed when theatre is in use. There is not really an option to put a door to the kitchen area. 2m is too wide as the door will close another door when fully open. Am thinking ...

Hi, I have a home theatre area which opens out to the hallway not far from the kitchen. The noise and light from the kitchen area is intrusive so I'm thinking of putting in double doors. Opening from the theatre to the hallway is quite large - 2m wide and 2.4 m high. I don't want sliding doors. Thin...

Hi, After my build, I hired the builder's electrical contractor to hang pendant lights at my home. After 2.5 years I noticed some of the pendant lights started sagging. I went into the manhole I found that each light is only suspended using single electrical wiring. I was expecting they were hung fr...

Does anyone know where I can get triple track curtain rails? I live in Perth. IKEA has one but is only 55" long. I need at least 2.5 metres. I don't think Bunnings have triple tracks. I don't really want to get custom order as they are expensive. Any help please....

Hi, My builder has just completed the roof and roof tiles for a house I'm building. They used treated wood for the roof structure. The house is in an area affected by European house borer. Also, I assume the treatment protects against termites. However, when they installed the roof tiling, the timbe...

Hi all, I'm currently building a house in Perth and they've just completed the roof structure. The structure has a few steel beams across which I understand is to support the roof and keep it down. At either end the beam sits on single bricks! It's not secured in any way in the longitudinal directio...

Hi all, Would anyone know a company that can supply and/or install wall panelling in Perth? I'm trying to achieve the look shown below. It's called wainscoting in America, but doesn't seem to be very common here? http://emilyanninteriors.blogspot.com.au/2010/06/wainscoting.html Thanks.

Hi all, Just got slab poured a couple of weeks ago and builder has submitted a claim for progress payment. At this point I'm thinking I don't know much about the building process to make an informed decision on whether the work is satisfactory. I've contacted a few companies that provide staged insp...

Hi all, I am putting in a single backdoor to exit my garage to the side of the house. My builder wants to charge me $585 for a fibreglass weathercote door and metal frame. This seems excessive. Can anyone please let me know whether I'm getting ripped off. Thanks.

I came across this real cool product by EzyBuild. Basicallly you can give your colourbond fence a rendered look using these panels that is fixed to the existing fence. Not sure about the pricing. Tried contacting the company but they said they would not ship interstate - they're based in NSW and I'm...

Can someone help to explain the WA setback rules for me? I've been talking to a few builders and reading the R codes but can't find the right information.
