We used the guys @ Christies Landscapes, in Perth ( https://christieslandscapes.com.au/ ), for our front yard. The work they did actually got featured on a garden magazine! A great team to deal with. HI gaynelle. You posted on an 8 year old thread about a garden in another state ( you are in WA) an...

HI swfarm, Welcome to the SW. We are on 3/4 of an acre in Donnybrook. I wish we were on 10 + acres. Though 155 seems a bit daunting. :) Do you have plans for the acres not house attached?

Go blocks or the sleeper retainers. Wood won't last that long. You can always wait and save some more money to pave or grass. Get your retaining and earth works done.

I was just admiring your lovely timber poles and that pretty light fitting in the guest room. oo love the idea of a shelf on top of the dishwasher to store stuff. We also have the dreaded gap as well. It looks terrible as ours is an underbench DW so doesn't have a pretty finished top to it. Hubby di...

We have a Gascoigne leather couch set. Fabulous quality. They were happy to split it as we only wanted one 3 seater and one single recliner as in our last home that was all we had room for. We purchased way back about 15+ years ago. When we moved here 5 years ago the removalist's had damaged one of ...

well my old veggie patch is about to be resurrected. The soil there is looking lush given it's had a winter of pea straw over it. The worms have gone nuts. Better than waiting 'til i can organise and pay for dirt for my new raised bed.BUT It will be surrounded by knee /thigh high weeds. I've cleared...

that might be the case NOW Nemisis but 20+ years ago it was the standard in WA. The piers matched those used in the carport built by my builder so I seriously doubt they were illegal. Do you have anything helpful to contribute to this thread? I've just realised it was you who asked me for photos not...

yes AKB it was. awful. So very sad for the family. From what read and what our friend said there were no rods in the piers. No ties to connect to the base etc etc. horrible. Sadly some of the brickwork done by supposedly accredited building companies in the late 80's- early 90's in the estate we wer...

A fence is a different kettle of fish to a patio. He should be fine with piers and bricks between or piers and some other fencing system between as long as he ties them together or makes sure he has a solid base for piers only. I posted only because we were ALL asked for advice and posted the pics b...

Not in Perth Nemisis, and yes we are talking many years ago. This was the standard back then. My brickie neighbour actually now works as a building inspector having become a fully fledged builder a number of years back and for a time after this having worked for the WA Building Commission as one of ...

Get your mud mix right. I did a course and still managed to have mine a bit hard though within acceptable tolerance. the piers are still standing 25 years on and are the base of a huge patio as well as an extended section which was for a fenced area. Our neighbour at the time was a brilliant brickie...
