We didnt have an undermount sink but we used to have a large sink without a drainiage area on the side. Loved the look, but wouldnt do it again. We always had to have tea towls on the bench and the drainer on that then the bits and pieces in there, wasnt too pretty. I have seen some double undermou...

In the house we are to build, we are looking at upgrading our oven/cooktop to 900mm. I know this isn't the question you asked, but most 900mm ovens we've seen are really 700mm ovens with "voids" on each side. Unless you have scads of space to spare, why not consider a 700mm? In which case, the sepa...

I thought the actual benchtop didn't stand out as much - but that's just my opinion!!! No, it's my opinion too! We were considering it too, but after seeing some display kitchens, it looked too "sterile" and hospitally/utilitarian having the bench and splashback the same. Agree it'd be easy to clea...

OK, this is pretty trivial, but... Who here lines their kitchen drawers? What do you use? We have plastic cut-to-fit liners from Ikea, which seem OK, but would like to hear about other options in use!

We currently have an 'all-in-one' unit as well, and so have the oven under the stove, but in the knew house we are going for a wall oven because we think it will suit us best. DH often cooks a roast on the weekend and so we are in the kitchen together and find that we get in each others way eg I'm ...

Hi, We've had a new kitchen installed recently. The electrician installed three halogen downlights in the ceiling. I was in the roofspace on the weekend, and noticed that the downlights were covered with the existing insulation (fibreglass batts). The lights have a metal cover over them, about the s...

So for the door ones, how do you fit them? I can't quite work out how that happens - do you replace part of the hinge with the new piece, or does it add on to what's there? And the price you got them for is great!

We're going for 2 ovens, or a double (but I don't think our budget will stretch to 1 pyrolitic, let alone 2). My reasoning is as follows.....we sometimes need extra oven volume (eg when DH cooks a roast), but for every day use, we will only need one oven. So rather than buying a 900mm oven and heat...
It's good reasoning! My wife wanted a double oven, whereas I was leaning to a 700mm one - saying we didn't need the ext...

Thanks Paula, Michelle and Ray - that helps a lot! We'll be looking for tiles again tomorrow. We don't need much - about 3 sqm - but we're amazed at the range of prices there is out there!

I hadn't heard of it at all until a lady in Clive Peeters mentioned it to us. We were looking for a 700mm oven, and she showed us a Baumatic. She said it was really good, great quality, German made, but not expensive, so we had a look. I must say the one we looked at didn't really excite us though -...

What type and colour flooring are you having? :D Oops - good question! It's cypress pine, a nice deep honey colour at the moment but we'll have to refinish it now due to the new cupboards and layout, so it'll probably be lighter.

I have a question about colours for our kitchen's splashback. We have satin poly doors in an Antique White (ie, off-white/creamy) and Caesarstone Almond Rocca benches. Want to tile the splash-back. We're thinking of just a plain, slightly textured white tile to maximise light, but trying a white til...

Thanks very much for your response Earl. I agree that assembly we could do ourselves, the installation sounds a bit scary, although I guess we could try and if we come across problems like an uneven floor we could get a pro in. We have original timber floorboards in our kitchen, so that is probably...

If you have a look at most sinks, the drainer is on the right. Our kitchen guy said that if we're right handed (which we are) then it's better to put the drainer on the left side, since you generally scrub with your dominant hand and hold with the other hand, so it's easier to put the clean dish th...

Any suggestions for one below 700-800? The Sunbeam 6910 seems like quite a good semi-auto. Here's a review, which seems quite critical, but it's from a real coffee nut, so bear that in mind: http://www.coffeetamper.com.au/kb/reviews/sunbeam-silvia/ Also, hop over to http://www.coffeesnobs.com.au an...

Is there room for you to recess the back panel? I mean can you push the back wall back rather than do all that work and have it not even with your bench? I wish there was - it would be the perfect solution. Unfortunately it's a single brick wall behind, backing onto our daughter's bedroom. alabaste...

alabaster, Not sure exactly what the job entails. But to give you some idea, the price of a coloured panel (2.4 x 0.7m) is roughly $175. Chris Thanks Chris. It'd be a 2550 x 700 polyurethaned panel, and a replacement piece of raw MDF about 200 x 700. I guess the work required would be: - Detaching ...
