Thanks for the reassurance about the pump. The builder did provide a Y filter and cover. I spoke to the pump manufacturer and not having them can void the warranty if you have problems further down the track. They said to use them in the installation instructions. The pump does provide good pressure...

I thought that being a water person you'd find our burst water pipe pics interesting. It happened 14 months after we moved in. It suddenly let go for some reason. Fortunately we'd just arrived home. The emergency plumber says the leaking section hadn't been crimped at all, yet the builder's plumber ...

I had trouble finding the overflow relief gully but it comes up through the slab the water tank is sitting on, in the narrow space between the house and the tank. I assume then that the house is on stumps. No. A slab, waffle pod slab I think it is called. I only know about the drainage stuff becaus...

So I have been talking to the council. The Queensland Development Code applies here so rainheads and screens on wet systems are compulsory. Size of gutters - whatever it says in national guidelines, codes etc. So Bundaberg ARI. The council hasn't been involved with these things for over 5 years and ...

Who certified it? It has a 100mm DWV pipe. If your 1:20 ARI is 265 mm/hr, the velocity of water flowing through a 100mm DWV pipe (104mm ID which has a volume of 8.5 litres per metre) once the tank fills during a minimum 1:20 ARI (1,224 lpm) will be touching on a velocity of 2.5 metres per second (i...

It's probably over a week since we got lots of heavy rain. The only water I noticed in gutters today was on the back roof. There was about 3mm of water all along the overflow area as shown below on the bottom of the diagram. It had a layer of green slime floating on top of it. https://forum.homeone...

I wasn't sure about the left section below. It is just under 45sq/m if you half it. So probably an A or D type gutter - really borderline. It's not quite clear but the width of the left section is 10m. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/90344_1618459210.jpg 45 sq m falls under the 50 sq m column. If yo...

I'm fairly sure this would be a 115mm gutter. It actually looks more like 110mm. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/90344_1618446966.jpg I got up on the ladder to check this. It is just 115mm to the overflow slots at the front side of the gutter. Across the base of the gutter is 110mm.

Our back gutter is the worst. It is a charged (closed) system to a tank he installed. Three times he had to repair the underground stormwater pipe to the tank in the first year because they kept leaking. One time a join fell apart in their hands and obviously hadn't been glued at all during the ori...

Although I find it a hard slog reading your technical stuff I have to thank you for helping me understand all of this. As a women and former nurse it is totally out of my usual scope of knowledge. Anyway, I've been up on the roof and done more precise measurements. I hope my diagrams are okay. It lo...

This is the outlet over the gravel pit. So it is where the overflow from the tank and all of the water from the front gutters ends up. So...you have no Legal Point Of Discharge (LPOD)? That is the Legal Point of Discharge. It probably doesn't look like it because I haven't put the top back on. When...

This is going up on my Wall Of Infamy . BTW, NCC Volume 2 3.5.3.5 states: "Downpipes must - (a) not serve more than 12 m of gutter length for each downpipe". I've seen that quoted all the time on other forums then people all argue about the interpretation of it. People say that can mean t...

Do you know the gutter size and are there overflow slots in the front wall? I need to know the gutter's cross sectional area to check compliance. How old would the gutters be (need to refer back to old regs). Slimline quad gutter with slots. 2 years old. I'm sure the gutter is 125mm wide. This photo...

Our inlet and overflow pipes are at the same height on the top edges of the tank. Hmmm! Do you mean at the top of the tank's side? Water must pass through mosquito proof mesh before entering the tank, do you have mosquito proof leaf diverters fitted to each wet system downpipe? Yes, at the top of t...

The water tank is for the garden and wasn't plumbed in to the house so I didn't think the certificate of inspection would cover it. Should it if the gutter is connected to the tank? You need to check the QLD plumbing regulations but here in Victoria a COC is issued for plumbing work when the total ...
