Its fine. The flue doesn't get water down it and they are usually part of the fan itself. It's just the difference in air pressure between inside and outside of the house that causes it to flap at times Ah I see. Thanks for that :)

Ah so you’re saying this is normal and of no concern? Also it looks like the backflow flaps are inside so even if it is opening and closing, no rain should be able to go in right?

Hi, Just noticed that on windy days there’s a flapping noise coming through from the externally flumed exhaust fans. Is this normal? Because I don’t remember our rental having any noise. I’m not sure if the noise is from the exhaust fans or whether the noise is just coming through it as that’s where...

We’re building in WA and didn’t want any gas at all because maybe one day we could install a tesla battery wall and use all/most of out energy needs from solar. For a HWS we went with an electric heat pump from Stiebel Eltron (WWK 302 model). Cost over 3k to have it installed but its very efficient ...

If they have built over the boundary it is 100% on their builder and will have to be demolished and rebuilt. That is the reason builders have a survey done and have the building pegged before they start construction. Yup exactly this. I had a friend go through a similar situation where the neighbou...

You can have both laminate and low e coating added to your double glazing along with argon gas. Here is our double glazing setup: https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/89639_1606719995.jpeg

The piles go in before or with the footings. Have you confirmed that the builder has failed to install them? It looks like you are in WA. Depending on what type and size of pile you had specified you may not hav even seen them get dug and poured if you weren't on site when the footings were poured....
Oh thanks for the reply. I remember asking my inspector at the slab inspection pre-pour about the piling and he said it...

Hi anyone know what stage the pilings are installed? I assumed it was be at the slab stage but it wasn’t and now they have started the brickwork. See pic below for where they are meant to be installed. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/89639_1605212997.jpeg

Question for everyone. When we say fully tiled bathroom, do we expect tiles behind the vanity and mirror or do you exclude those areas? My assumption was it should be tiled behind both. In our rental we have floor to ceiling tiling (fully tiled) and there is tiles behind the vanity and mirror.

Ok, here is where we are at.... Gasgate continues. Expecting an update by Mon or Tues next week. If it has to move, it has to move but we would prefer it closer to footpath. Façade is taking shape. Internal inspections and noted defect list are occurring inside prior to our PCI which is goin...

Ended up with a 6,090 x 6,700 garage with a 5,110 wide opening for the door. Did it make much difference in cost to change the size of the door out of interest? Nope they actually had to make the garage door smaller from 5.2 to 5.1 because of council requirements

Hi looking for inspiration for a house design for a 20x20 square block. Looking to build in Brisbane but am keen to see people's ideas for a square block no matter where they are. Search up “Squat lot floorplans” on google and you’ll get a lot of ideas for square block designs. I’m a big fan of squ...

It depends on the model. What model are you getting? Some of their rangehood models can be up upwards of $2000+ Make sure you get them to specify the model number in your contract.

Yes you can make structural changes but depending on the builder it might cost a fee. I even made structural changes after the HIA contract was signed and after we got council approval. Just meant that the plan had to be resubmitted to the council which took ages (think it was like 6-8weeks).

Our driveway is done. I'm not sure about the angle coming from the right. Seems it should of went a across lower, doesn't seem like much room to park. It looks weird or is it just me...would you question it? https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/94344_1595887197.jpg https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/94344_15...
What colour combination is your roof and gutter? Looks like basalt roof and monument gutters?
