These look like bushfire-proof weephole inserts. They are necessary in some areas. As a renderer, these have often been the bane of my existence. The problem with them is that they are often laid in too tightly and are impossible to adjust. The idea is that the brick layers should leave them loose ...

Welcome to the forum They appear to be weep hole covers. They should sit flush they can be trimmed...hth Thanks very much for the quick reply and info, I had no idea that's what they were!
