This may be the case, but thats not enough data to prove it one way or another. Agree. It looks like forum SPAM to me. Why because someone doesn’t agree with you? It must be spam? It’s the internet dude! Oops sorry, I thought you were claiming I was spamming. 🤣

Is the compressor for Actron ESP Ultima noisy? I can’t really say as I’ve never owned any other brands, Personally I don’t think it’s excessively noisy. If the motor is ramping up then yeah it’s a little loud, I can hear it from my study (as it’s just behind my wall), but it’s usually only for a sh...

I would strongly recommend Daikin, we run an electrical business and we get more call outs to repair Actron systems then we do for Daikin units. This may be the case, but thats not enough data to prove it one way or another. You could get more calls for Actron because there may be only a few that r...

I’m the OP. I ended up choosing the Actron ESP Ultima. I’m quite happy with it. I have 6 zones and I’m using the Que controllers. Each zone has its own thermostat, so heats / cools each zone accordingly … and it works quite well. The problem I’ve found with other aircon systems is they tend to get t...

Our mosaic feature tiles are 8mm thick whereas our main tile is 10mm thick. I’d prefer if the tiles sit flush with one another. Is there anyway to pack out the mosaic tiles by 2mm to make them flush with the main tile? Can use more glue as they are mosaics and will be difficult to get an even surfac...

We built a retaining wall and hired a licensed plumber to install the agi pipes. We’ve recently discovered that he did a poor job and that the agi pipes slope in the wrong direction causing water to flow away from the outlet. It’s an L shaped retaining wall 19m x 19m. He has only provided one outlet...

We are tiling our alfresco area so that the tiles will be flush with the door track and the inside finished floor level. I’m told by some tilers that the alfresco slab has been poured too high - it was poured 20mm below the finished floor level - allowing 10mm tile, 5mm glue and a 5mm extra room to ...

Hi, I’m trying to decide which ducted system to choose for our new house being built in Melbourne. It’s a large double story house, 41 squares (381sqm) of living space. I’ve narrowed it down to two systems, Actron or Daikin. Option 1: Actron Air ESP Platinum Que 21kw 3 phase 6 zones 1 que touch cont...

What’s the difference between Speed Deck roofing and Klip Lok? I’ve been quoted a few thousand dollars less for a Speed Deck roof with one roofer vs Klip Lok with another installer. Is there any main difference? Is it worth spending the extra for klip lok or better to save a few grand? Thx

I only just noticed that our second story frame has been constructed with mostly 35x90 pine instead of 45 x 90. At 450 centers. Downstairs is all 45’s. The architectural plans say 45. Is this a problem?

The standards on the plan state 2015 for the balcony. If I am not mistaken, the 2018 standards were updated to include overflows for balconies. So our plans may have been approved prior to the change. I don’t know. Regardless, how does an overflow need to be constructed?

I should have mentioned that it’s an enclosed balcony, ie the balustrade is solid.

The standards AS3500.3:2018 call for balconies to have an overflow to cater for a once in a 100 year storm. I am unable to find any information regarding how an overflow needs to be constructed. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

No engineering detail showing continuity of double studs. The engineer said the studs should continue to lower ground frame over the phone, where as the carpenter says they do blocking. Unless there is engineering detail requiring continuity of double studs then your chippy is right. Common house frame construction involves blocking between floors. In any case in Victoria, building surveyor or a building inspector will inspect and approve the frame. What gave you idea studs should...

We have some load baring double and triple studs (LVL’s) on second story that support the roof. I may have misunderstood the engineer, but what I understood is these studs should continue down to the ground floor frame. The chippy is saying they don’t. Instead they finish at the bottom plate of the ...

Yes, you are right we don’t need underlay with scyon, but we’ll need underlay in order to get the height of the tiles to match the carpet in the hallway.

Hi, I just want to know if we should use scyon flooring for the upstairs bathrooms or just stick to regular particle board? The showers will be flush with the floor. We will still need to put tile underlay / cement sheet on top regardless of which one we use. Is it worth putting in scyon or not? And...

Our engineer specified tensioned strap bracing in a cross for the stud walls. Our carpenter used a single diagonal angle brace instead, notched into the frame. The engineer said bracing must be in a cross. It’s too late to replace the angle bracing as the timber has been notched, and too late to red...
