I'd think it'd be safe - as long as the fridge doesn't leak, which then goes into the carpet and stays wet and grows mould and becomes a hazard.... If it is only a bar fridge and not an actual bar area it should be fine. perhaps one of those rubber mats that they use under washing machines to keep them from moving would work for you (they are clear so you shouldn't notice it) Thanks for your suggestion.
