Building A New House

Do it. I wish I did it. I lost a hot water system and a pool pump. Both attached and secure. Had to be a builders job. Lucky insurance came to the party. Apparently happens all the time on housing sites. If you can get all 4 sides even better still.

In Melbourne you need to think of heating as well. We had solar heating, which was not ideal. The problem is the variable climate in Melbourne, where it can be hot for a few days and then cool for a few. So if you have had a few cool days and then a hot day (as you get in Melb), the pool will be co...

A question... we have two relatively large showers. And you think every shower you have will be with another person. I would rather the toilet be closed. Who wants to see someone taking a dump whilst showering. Also the smell..

Unless you insulate your garage door that is where the heat is. Our triple garage is under the main roof with R6.0 batts there too and it gets hot. Your doors "attract" that heat and it goes in there. I have installed some small windows in the garage plus an automatic extraction fan which ...

Ho, I want to insulate my shed. The space between the ceiling panels and the tin roof is 180mm. Can the insulation batts be compressed tight between the panels and the roof or is it advisable to have a space (ie not touching the roof). Is its advisable then I'd gothe R2.0, otherwise I can use the co...

Speaking from decades of experience at my parents home. Know the water table level. Because if you get unseasonal weather (ie lots of rain). The water table will rise and it will flood and it will take a long time to get rid of it. Last year my parents home had 1m of water in the basement. It took 3...

Hi, we have a fibreglass pool and over the past two years the elderly parents, relatives are keen to "jump in". As most are quite elderly and not too sure on their feet, I'd like to consider some rough (sandpaper like) surface on the steps. This would help reduce any slippage that might ha...

After we then installed the solar through the same company (with a good discount). All good, great after sales support. Fast forwa...

The other suggestion is to call your shire inspector. They are the ones tgat will sign off on everything. If you do it now as its being done may save you heaps of heartache. Our final pool height and hence the paving was "only" 0.5cm higher . When they came to certify everything they pinge...

So after the build, the owners go in and inspect the completion with a copy of the ans and contract in hand. You poi...

Your pool installer will need to speak to the water authority. That is the only way to get it right. We had similar issues and it was the water authority that gave us the exact minimum distances.
