Hi guys, We're also looking to build the Hoffman Villa from PD in Vic. Were PD able to accomodate your request for a wider garage? Cheers Yep, took all the way to the boundary except for 200mm. They have a strict policy (at least with knockdown rebuilds) to go no closer than 200mm of the surveyed l...

When I spoke with NBN they wouldn't give me a price nor an accurate estimate, but the indication was upwards of $5000 and possibly a couple months. Did you go ahead and pay for a formal quote to have a put installed?

Yea I'm thinking the same too, will need the re-connection done once the house is built. You don't know down the line there might be more costs involved if it wasn't done properly, best to prevent that situation. In my case there will be as I won't accept aerial for the new house, but yeah, if they...

Probably I should clarify.. NBN will charge you $315 and you pray they do turn up before you demolition guys comes in. I waited for 5-6 week!. If you google there are people saying they don't turn up.. In my case they did not turn up so my demo. guys cut the wire and then I asked NBN for a refund. ...
After weeks, they finally send me a quote and it's for $1,056!!!! To cut a HFC cable and update their internal records....

We're planning to build with PD in early 2019 (Hoffman Villa) and we're extending our garage, but by width not by the length. I have a feeling had we asked for length-wise as you had we'd be knocked back as that would have a big impact on the structure and existing roof lines. How did you go with H...

! Finally. The chick from KC was on annual leave, which is understandable but where is the communication?! Surely someone at KC or WOD knew our rep was on leave Same as us. 5 whole weeks was wasted/lost waiting for KC to reply to fundamental errors/issues we found with our designs, and by escalatin...

Thanks for the details, will look into some of those recommendations. Your electrical pit for $3600, was that single phase or 3-phase power?

Hi brokenstick. A pit is for electrical power. My questions were for a gas connection. Do they also require a pit?

Hi, Had an interesting chat with our SS today. He advised us that in future all independent inspections eg. Darbecca etc can incur a 7 day delay to the build. Personally, it hasn't swayed our decision to continue using them, but will add up if you have a tight timeline. Just thought we'd share this...

We're in a HFC-based NBN area planning to KDR in 6 months. Current old property has that very same modem you speak in a single point in the house (via overhead cable). Come time for new build, I'm thinking the same thing. Not only are we unsure of when and how the "NBN" HFC cable will be r...

Thanks for the input. Part of my frustration is around that VIC demolishers won't do a lot of that, especially the abolishment of electricity and gas supplies. It's all excluded. Some will offer the fencing and capping of sewer but as pricey additional options.

Thanks Old Bloke, that makes the decision pretty easy for us, the side that the driveway isn't on. Cheers. Elsewhere I've been advised that some volume builders, PD seems to be one of them, tend to comply with the Australian Building Code through the use of "Performance Solutions", apparen...

It's highly likely you'll have asbestos with a house of that age. Give Jason at Gravity Demolition a call (9738 2524) - if you have a look at the 1st page of our build thread in my signature you'll see a couple of photos of them on site and the demo in progress and the cleared block. If your neighb...

Cheers, will do, thanks! Side note, we're in Kingston council, and I've been told they're actually pretty good to deal with, especially for KDRs, they're quite supportive. Heh, here's hoping.
