Hi Shane, I know your post was a while ago but wondering if you had any luck resolving it? We've recently had a colorbond roof installed and have the same issue, banging popping all day and all night. Woken up at 4am the past 5 mornings in a row to a loud bang. I am aware of thermal expansion etc, ...

Our builder has refused to even try diagnosing! So I’m desperate to hear from anyone else who has any possible resolution. I did have a message from someone in the forum suggesting they knew of a solution but when I responded back they have not replied. We are about to go through consumer and busin...
Hi Bianca, Did you have any progress on this issue?

This is my third house with a metal roof, first one was an Edwardian, no cracking noises at all, just deafening when it rained, timber frame. Next house was a new build, steel frame and surf mist colourbond roof, popping in the frame at certain times but not often at night, mostly with temperature ...
Our builder threw their arms up and said it wasn’t their issue… have you had any luck?

My next step was to try and get a framing carpenter and pay them to hop in the roof to have a look. I contacted a forensic engineer who looked at my plans and listened to my audio and advised me that there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the drawings, but the sound in my roof was definitely no...

Our builder has been insanely useless in diagnosing this issue. If either of you have had any progress, I’d love to know

We had the same issue, it sounded like continuous gun shots. The issue according to an expert was related to the darker colour of our roof which was Basalt. Lighter coloured roofs had less of these popping noise problems. We were advised by an expert to fix it by widening the roof fastener holes. W...

Hello All, Just to be clear, I am aware about 'thermal expansion' etc with colorbond roofs. In my last house, in the same suburb and same colorbond roof, we would occassionally get a few bangs/pops throughout the day, moreso on a hot day. In our new house, theres popping noises coming from every are...

Question for those who have built. We are past paint and just done tiles, but I have found HEAPS of issues that I would have thought would have been fixed earlier: 1 Alfresco slab too short - hebel pillars sit off slab, 2 Porch fall towards door 3 Garage fall towards internal door 4 Garage opening n...

How's your build progressing @shane3340? Going alright, Hebel was delivered today so that is good, roof is on and windows all installed, the only thing I’m concerned about is that the pipes still haven’t been fixed. Up to day 66 of 308.

Did anybody else have their plumbing put through the slab in the wrong location? The plumbers who did ours were about a metre off on ALL the pipes coming out of the slab - apparently, the slab will need to be cut open and pipes moved. Anyone else had a similar experience? I've been told it will all ...

Hello Kumar, I think my biggest advice is to check, double check, triple check - their drafting and documentation for us had HEAPS of errors. When a document gets corrected, ensure you re-read the entire document again - carefully. Make sure you are happy with everything structural - as you can't ch...

Hi, Had an interesting chat with our SS today. He advised us that in future all independent inspections eg. Darbecca etc can incur a 7 day delay to the build. Personally, it hasn't swayed our decision to continue using them, but will add up if you have a tight timeline. Just thought we'd share this...
That’s true they have it in the contracts now
