A quick check of the plans tell me it’s 2.7m. Matt can I ask how wide the space is between your house and fence? Our house plan is set to fill the block (with 3m rear and 5m front setbacks), leaving us with a ‘side yard’ space I’m trying to visualise ;). https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/78794_15613513...

We are also thinking of doing some DIY landscaping so will be definitely following this thread. Good luck! Send us a link if you start a thread please. I’ve finally sourced some bluestone natural pavers although another 4 weeks until delivery. I’m going to get these down and the big pots as my firs...

I have “these fury things” purple fountain grass I have the Dwarf variety & it still is a big plant. So you would plant it on it’s own & maybe have a small plant between them. I have to cut it back regularly, but it is a stunning plant. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/89747_1561424514.jpeg O...

So on to my order of doing things. I'm thinking I will firstly start with my pavers and then place my big planters which will be home for the two citrus trees. Once these are all placed I was thinking I would then look to condition the sand that is left exposed to make it fertile. This in itself is ...

And two plants I'd like to look into to add along the side are in pictures below. I've seen these around but have no idea what they are. Would anyone have any idea on the species? Maybe not the exact ones pictures but similar possibly? I'm looking for the purple long ones here. https://forum.homeone...

First of all that's a beautiful fence! Is it timber? In my opinion bamboo is not the right plant for this setting because it visually doesn't suit the house and fence style. It will look too "twiggy". I would suggest a more leafy looking plant such as Viburnum or Gardenia. Viburnums grow ...
Thanks for this reply Amile, it's really useful. Firstly the fence is actually PVC. You'd never think unless you got up...

We are looking at our fencing options for our new build in Perth. We have a corner block so we need roughly a 25m stretch of privacy fencing along the road facing side of the block. Our house is Hamptons themed so we want something that looks a bit more traditional than just Colourbond. We're lookin...

Thanks for the reply. North is on the left of the drawing so sun will arrive on to the building for most of the day. We were thinking of an uncovered one. No solid structure. Unsure if this will work to be honest but just trying to plant some seeds of thought for now. I’ll get around to sketching on...

We're currently looking at our options for our outdoor area. We will be having a pool put in so as you will see from the pic below, things are pretty tight out there in terms of free space. Our Alfresco is going to be a dining area so we wanted a kind of lounge area as well with some casual seating....

Good point about being climbable. We will need to consider this when choosing the gap size between slats. We have some quotes coming in now for both wooden and metal so I think we're getting closer. Cheers for replying.

We are at the point where we need to choose and pay the deposit on our fencing. We have an idea of the look we want to achieve but unsure on the kind of fencing we need to look for quotes on. We have a part weatherboard elevation to front and side (we are a corner block). We also have weatherboard o...

http://stonegables.blogspot.com We're doing a modern Hamptons/French Farmhouse touch to our new build and have gone with engineered timber for the sheer look and feel of the product as well as quality We got ours from Dynamiq Flooring in North Rocks and our sales guy Tii was out of this world. I think the round vents are a good nod to hamptons. I assume you don’t want to change your windows to sash windows [emoji1]. How about one of those garage doors with a row of small windows at the top? Also of course the colours you paint the facade with, and contrasting trim. Personally finials don...

To make our house look Hamptons from the outside We have some weatherboard and some mouldings around the pillars on the porch. I’m wondering if this is enough. I’m thinking about adding the veritcle wooden spikes to the gables. Or possibly the circular vents to the gable. But also being aware that ...
Just found out that the wooden spikes I was referring to are actually called 'finials'.

Great reply, very useful info there. Cheers! We've since had some quotes back and I think it's safe to say that Engineered is out of reach for our budget. Sad face. We looked at some laminates on the weekend and have to say that we were quite impressed with how they look. They also fit to our budget...

We are at the point where we now need to select our flooring for our new Hamptons themed house. To conform to the theme we are looking for a dark brown coloured floor. We had always set aside a budget with engineered timber in mind. But after visting a couple of shops the sales people seem to be try...

Thanks for the reply. I wont be tendering out the design. It's more a case of us just starting with a blank canvas and letting a design company come up with a house design that works for our block. Then taking that to a builder to build. The build should be straight forward enough I'm thinking. It's...
