Building A New House

Well, because it's just me and my cat, I'm lucky that school catchment areas won't bother me, access to transport is something I'll need because I'll have to commute. I had already decided I wanted to move to Geelong so I know the area well. I'm looking at Armstrong creek, or close by. Otherwise, I'...

What i did was looked at all the estates in the area - i was picky as i wanted a court or rd so not many people would be driving past. So that eliminated a lot of estates as most were in squares and no courts. Boyfriend wanted a certain size because we extended the garage. I eventually chose an est...

So I am starting to get a little more excited. As of tomorrow, I will have saved 50% of my deposit. Which means, I can start looking for land. Anyone else go through this this? How soon was it until you found a suitable peace of land? And how quickly did you put a deposit down on it? I'm going to tr...

When we looked at at this the company we spoke to about costs had included the ducting and install costs into their quote. Things to think/ask about from the company your thinking of getting the system from - zoning is it included/ needed for your house? - should you have HBC pre provision a power/w...

I'm slowly making my way through this entire thread (think I've read 150 upto now and the first 27 pages). There was a lot of talk in the first 27 pages about updating the Brivis ducted heating to a higher tier unit (4 or 5 star) that had larger ducts so that a brivis ac system can be installed aft...
Here is what we learnt about the heating and cooling situation! Heating wise a builder will normally install a 3 star h...

Adding allowances into your PWC is definately what I'd recommend. We added it and went $1800 over and as far as I understand our Bank is holding onto our first home owners grant which will pay for that extra bit and the bank just gives us the difference back. Yeah I'm thinking that's why it's diffi...
Yeah I'm thinking that's why it's difficult to make changes after PWC is done ! Is there a maximum you can add for allo...

] They do have a price list, I asked and received it straight away , not sure why it's different as I added about 4K worth of upgrades and was told at the end I don't have to pay until before the build starts ! May not even have to pay anything if we come out of bushfire protection ! Be persistent a...

Damn, well this will certainly make a difference to the upgrades I want then!! I'll say goodbye to a lot of them now!! don't count your chickens just yet. that's the exact response I had when I found out too. the upgrades are not too bad cost wise, everything I wanted I got (apart from ducted ac an...
