It looks so good! Glad you showed us the process and final result. What size is the linear pendant light, if I may ask? I was thinking of getting that one (or a similar looking one I guess) from beacon myself. Thanks for the feedback. The light is from Beacon and it's the 1.8m long one. The island ...

We bought our new family home back in 2016 as it was close to school for the kids and large enough for us to grow into. In fact it was quite large, about 50 squares if my measurements are correct. It was a 1970s brick double story with massive overgrown gardens in the back, mission brown trim inside...

So while we were waiting for the cabinet maker, we decided to get cracking with putting the flooring down. We chose a loose lay vinyl plank called Dunlop Heartridge. We chose this because we liked the idea of a loose lay plank so it could be replaced easily and also it is supposedly very durable and...

Progress through to completion. A lot has happened over the past 5 months and we now have a finished product which we're very happy with. The next step following the removal of the old kitchen and plaster from the wall that separated the kitchen/dining from the living, was to install some LVL joists...

So reviving this thread as we're now progressing with the renovation and like my garden thread, thought it would be good to document the progress here. The final design we settled on for the kitchen removed some of the oak colouring and will be a more subdued scandinavian style with oak overheads, m...

So by removing the in built coffee machine we can get an extra 600mm of bench space to put a proper coffee machine on. This results in both the island bench and the bench where the hob is to match at 3000mm which pleases my OCD. I think the 2nd option with the ovens at the end of the island is sligh...

I say second. Mainly because the fridge is then closer to the cooktop and sink, so makes it easier when you’re cooking (the idea is that there should be a triangle between them). Also instead of a built in coffee machine you could just have recess with a roll-down top and power points inside and ha...
Yeah the cooking triangle we've thought about and the fridge is slightly closer in the second option but it's only a st...

I like the first option more. I find built-in coffee machines being not very reliable on one side as well as over priced and under performing when comparing with standalone coffee machines you can get for twice lower money. This is why my coffee machine sits on bench. You can also integrate warming...

Is it 3 ovens or one is microwave and another one is the steamer oven? What about warming drawer? It is okay to stack up to 2 ovens (one on top of the other), by the way. Also you can always place an oven under the hob. You can also place microwave into your pantry as generally you microwave (heat ...

What software did you use to draw this up in? ArchiCAD I’m a draftsman so just curious It's software on the Ikea website, free to use. Includes all the Ikea cabinetry. Can press one button and it gives you a quote to the cent for the hardware including lighting, door handles, filler pieces, etc.

Hi all, Next phase of home renovations are focused on the kitchen where we're looking to knock out a few walls and open up the living space and install a whole new kitchen with butlers pantry, linen closet and study nook. The Ikea kitchen design software has been fantastic and the plan is to use Ike...

Having three weeks off over the Christmas and New Years period motivated me to tackle the next phase of the renovations which was the ugly upstairs deck. The combo of old faded shade cloth with cracked pine decking and the green paint wasn't doing it for me. I had previously tried to clean the board...

Last step before being able to sit back and fully relax is to put in the glass fence along the other sides. Decided to give this a crack as as DIY project so bought the glass from a trade shop up in QLD and got it freighted down to Melbourne and got cracking. Didn't take a heap of photos of doing th...

Wow. It looks incredible. What a great choice you've made with the pool shape, size, colour and the pavers too. Can i re-do mine and have what you've got?? Thanks Cat. Decision was made to put in a pool. After a lot of research, we decided to go with a fibreglass shell by Leisure Pools. We went the Acclaim model which gives us a large splash deck and fit the space the best. Starting the dig. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/76925_1533359594.jpg Dig complete and base...

Ok, so the last update in June last year was when we covered the cracked concrete and tiled pergola floor with the Merbau decking. Next step was to replace the colour bond roof of the pergola as we wanted to let some more light in to the space and also freshen the colour up from the old cream to a g...

So the next phase of the backyard landscaping has been done and I chose to get the professionals in. Tom at Lifetime Decking came and knocked this up in a week. Single length Merbau cover the 8x4m pergola floor which was previously an unsightly cracked concrete with a tiled add on. A lick of paint o...

Hi Kylz, yes, I screwed a treated pine sleeper to the fence posts at the back to spread the load of the soil in the garden bed. This photo here shows how I positioned it. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d31/GMiladinovic/IMG_3136.jpg

So here are the final pictures from the Stage 1 part of the landscaping along with some before and after pics which show the transformation. The total effort here was 6 weeks with about 2 of those weeks with help from the old man. Costs around $13k including the Shed. http://i32.photobucket.com/albu...
